Just two days apart in the summer of 2018, Nigel Williams-Goss and Zach LeDay signed their rookie Turkish Airlines EuroLeague contracts with Olympiacos Piraeus. They happened to be in the same city, Las Vegas, at the time, so they took the opportunity to have dinner together, their first of many. It was the start of a special friendship that went well beyond their one-season status as teammates and second-year pros together.
Three years later Williams-Goss would ask LeDay to be the best man at his wedding, and this season, they reunited on Euroleague courts, but this time as opponents. The last two weeks, they have been competing against each other in what is already one of the most memorable playoff series in league history. Williams-Goss hit a game-winner to bring Real Madrid back in the series and LeDay is Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade's performance leader through four games.
Before their teams meat in a monumental Game 5 on Wednesday for one of them to reach the Final Four, LeDay and Williams-Goss talked about what it's like to be such close friends and also foes for a fortnight.
