Efes snags NBA veteran Stanley Johnson
Anadolu Efes Istanbul reloaded at the small forward position by signing Stanley Johnson, who comes to Europe for the first time after spending eight seasons in the NBA. Selected eighth overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 2015 NBA Draft, Johnson (1.98 meters, 28 years old) played three and a half seasons with Detroit, half a season with the New Orleans Pelicans, two years with the Toronto Raptors and a campaign each with Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.9 steals in 449 career games in the NBA.
Last season Johnson played for the Stockton Kings in the G-League where he averaged 14.2 points on 40.8% three-point shooting, 5.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals in 31 games. Johnson played one season of college basketball at the University of Arizona after which he was named the PAC-12 Conference Freshman of the Year and the winner of the Julius Erving Award as the best small forward in college basketball. He also played multiple summers for Team USA, including in 2012 when he helped win the gold medal at the U17 World Championship.
