A who’s who of the Fenerbahce club, Turkish basketball and local dignitaries were on hand for the opening ceremony, including club president Ali Koc; Fenerbahce’s Chairman of the Supreme Council Ugur Dundar; the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu; Mayor of Kadıkoy Serdil, Dara Odabası; current and former players and coaches, and many more.
“The idea of a basketball museum was put forward in order to leave our proud history to future generations and to enable future generations to better understand the past. As a result of the realization of this idea, we are all here together. Great athletes who have become icons in our community and Turkish sports for 100 years wore our uniform. Invaluable coaches have served this community, this jersey, and have spent a lot of time and left a mark on history. In fact, while they were writing history full of success and trophies, they also formed Fenerbahce's basketball culture with their stance," President Koc said in his address.
“Fenerbahce has served basketball for years, but there is a fact that the most successful periods of our history of more than a century undoubtedly started in the 2000s. Our successes were crowned with successive championships and cups in men's basketball and the EuroLeague championship we won in 2017."
