Fenerbahce bounced back under the boards

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul recorded back-to-back wins in Rounds 18 and 19 this week. On Tuesday, Fenerbahce allowed Panathinaikos Athens to pull down 26 offensive rebounds. On Thursday, Coach Dimitris Itoudis's team fixed the problem.
Fenerbahce defeated FC Bayern Munich 79-71 and rebounds were a big part of it. The hosts outrebounded Bayern 44-25 and that was the key factor in the game. Johnathan Motley finished the game with 17 rebounds, a new career-high and one shy of this season's best mark, shared by Walter Tavares of Real Madrid and Youssoupha Fall of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, who grabbed 18 apiece against AS Monaco and FC Barcelona, respectively.

Fenerbahce went from allowing 26 offensive rebounds against Panathinaikos to giving up just 3 of those against Bayern. It grabbed 28 defensive boards, which means Fenerbahce pulled down 90.3% of all rebounds under its own rim. Bayern couldn't match those numbers, as Fenerbahce had 16 offensive rebounds and the visitors had 22 defensive boards. Bayern only collected 57.9% of all rebounds under its own basket. Motley had 7 offensive rebounds, the most by a Fenerbahce player since Jan Vesely grabbed 8 against Brose Bamberg on February 9, 2018.
