It was already an entertaining game between AS Monaco and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, but Donta Hall turned it into a dunk contest.
Hall's energy gave Monaco momentum to win
Fenerbahce arrived to this game with a 9-1 record in its last 10 games, a streak that had started with a 96-86 home victory against Monaco in Round 13. The guests led 22-24 early in the second quarter but Hall decided to get the crowd involved, getting the ball from Leo Westermann to detonate a dunk. Fenerbahce coach Sasa Djordjevic saw it coming and immediately called timeout, but it didn't matter. On Monaco's next offense, Westermann connected again with Hall for another brutal alley-oop dunk. The score was 26-26, but the game's momentum had shifted and Monaco found the right go-to guys to capitalize on that.
Feeding off Hall's energy, Westermann and Motiejunas quickly gave the hosts a 35-28 lead. After Danilo Barthel scored for Fenerbahce, Will Thomas and Alpha Diallo each hit a three-pointer to boost Monaco's margin to double digits, 42-30. Fenerbahce was overwhelmed and Monaco just kept going. Thomas and Diallo combined for 12 points in a 16-0 run that boosted its lead to 51-30. Hall had time for yet another alley-oop slam before Thomas beat the shot clock with a jumper. Nothing changed in the second half, as Monaco cruised to a 92-78 victory. Hall finished the game with 6 points, 5 rebounds and a PIR of 7. His numbers were not the best but his impact in the game was decisive.
