"I am very happy with how we fought until the end. At times we were far from quality but we fought. We had a couple of defensive mistakes as the new guys who joined the team still don’t know the system, but we showed big character and a big effort. I think we deserved this win. We are happy to have beaten Bologna twice because they are a very good team with a very good coach. I am the coach of this team and I am first in line to dream about the playoffs.
"I am very happy and proud of my team, we won against a great team. They have great players and a great coach. We had a good effort throughout the game, we got 11 offensive rebounds and that shows we were aggressive on the boards. Sometimes we were far from good quality basketball but we played hard, believed in ourselves all 40 minutes and we deserved this win. [Achille Polonara] is a very good player, that’s why we signed him and we are very happy to have him on our team.
"We had some defensive misunderstandings because we had two new guys, him and Isiah Taylor. That’s why Virtus was able to come back into the game but Achille is a very good player, he is an all-round player who can play in multiple positions. We can stretch the floor with him, he can play as a four or a five, sometimes a three. I think with practice, day by day, he will get better but today also he helped us win."
“First of all congrats to Zalgiris, at the end of the day they deserved to win. We had a slow start, which is not really acceptable. Then we fought and made a terrific effort to come back into the game and we made at the end of the third quarter. Then, at the beginning of the fourth, Isiah Taylor made the difference. A few plays down the stretch he rebuilt their lead which wasn’t unreachable but psychologically, it was a pretty big hit into our stomach. We still tried, we came back to within 4 points, we had a shot to slash it down to 2, but the effort required to make a comeback was too big, especially for some of our players.
“I think the difference in the free throws and the rebounds was statistically the most evident data, if you want to evaluate the game from that point of view. I believe you also have to give credit to Zalgiris because they played really hard. They have tough and competitive players, a solid organization. They don’t need to dish out too many assists because they are so strong one-on-one. If your rim protection is not great and your one-on-one protection is not great, they are going to finish at the rim like they did. We know it, but and we knew the rebounds were always going to be crucial, but knowing it is not enough. We needed to bring that knowledge onto the floor and into the game. We fought and competed until the very end. We do what we can and now we move on to the next game, which is going to be another very tough one."
“It was a very tough game and I am happy about the team. Everybody left 100 percent on the court, we played together as a team and I am so happy. Our goal was to stop [Teodosic] and the whole team. We’ll go game by game and let’s see what happens."
"It starts with our practices. We work extremely hard, we’re competitive. We started the game pretty well, then we made some defensive mistakes but then we cleaned it up in the second half. The two new guys who came aboard, they came up big for us. This was their first game, we barely practiced with them. They know what we are bout, we are an unselfish team that wants to win and that’s it. The playoffs are always on our minds. That’s got to be our goal but we are just focused on the next game, the next practice, every single day. If we keep playing like this, playing hard, we’ll give ourselves a chance."
