Melli was fighting for an offensive rebound when he hurt his right leg and limped off the court with 1:28 left in a Milan's 48-64 defeat at the hands of defending champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
Milan's statement identified it as a calf injury for which Melli will be reevaluated in four weeks, meaning he will miss the remainder of the best-of-five series and, were his team to qualify, the Final Four, which runs from May 19 to 21 in Belgrade, Serbia.
His loss comes as a major blow for Milan, which is already reeling from falling on Tuesday with the lowest points total by a home team in EuroLeague Playoffs history. Melli has Milan's second-best average performance index rating this season, 13.4, and leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per game while scoring 8.1 points.
