Monaco tabs top French talent Juhann Begarin
AS Monaco has added another weapon to its backcourt arsenal with the signing of top French talent Juhann Begarin on a three-year deal. He is due to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with the club.
Begarin (1.96 meters, 21 years old) arrives from fellow French League side Nanterre 92, where he averaged 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 33 French League games last season. He helped the team finish the regular season in fifth place and reach the finals of the Leaders Cup.
Begarin came through the youth ranks with Centre Federal de Basketball of France before joining Paris Basketball in 2019 and spending four seasons there. He was a top candidate for the EuroCup Rising Star Award in 2022-23 when he averaged 12.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals for Paris. He was third in the EuroCup that season in steals. Begarin, who has also played for the French national team at both the junior and senior levels, was chosen by the Boston Celtics with the 45th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
