AS Monaco has announced that guard Jordan Loyd will undergo nasal bone surgery on Friday upon arriving home to the principality to repair a broken nose and cranial-facial trauma he suffered with being hit inadvertently while attempting a rebound late in the team's 94-95 overtime victory at Real Madrid on Thursday.
The injury occurred with 6 seconds left in regulation time and left Loyd bleeding on the court under the basket. He was eventually taken off the court on a stretcher, just like his teammate John Brown had been a week earlier with a rib injury. Brown recovered to play on Friday.
Loyd had been a major factor until leaving the game, with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals for a performance index rating of 25 in his 26 minutes on court.
In its announcement, Monaco did not estimate how long Loyd will be sidelined after Friday's surgery.
