Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul has been without the services of star signing Nemanja Bjelica so far in the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, and the team's fans will have to wait a little while longer before seeing him take to the floor. Bjelica has been out with a calf injury since August and, as he ramped up his rehabilitation, he felt some pain in the leg that he had previously injured, while tests confirmed that he also has swelling in his calf.
Nemanja Bjelica dealt injury setback but expected to join Fenerbahce practice next week
Bjelica will now follow a program to reduce the swelling in his calf. His status will be evaluated on a daily basis, with the expectation being that Bjelica can gradually begin to rejoin Fenerbahce's team practices in the next week.
There was a lot of excitement among Fenerbahce's fan base last summer when it was announced that the 34-year-old would be returning to Ulker Sports and Event Hall, where he played between 2013 and 2015. In his last season with the team, 2014-15, Bjelica was named the EuroLeague MVP and was also selected to the All-EuroLeague First Team.
