EA7 Emporio Armani Milan has made one of the summer's biggest splashes by signing superstar Nikola Mirotic to a three-year contract, the club announced on Thursday. Mirotic (32 years old, 2.08 meters) arrives from FC Barcelona, where he averaged 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.0 steals and a 16.4 PIR in 29 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season, his fourth at the club. After leading Barca to three straight EuroLeague Final Fours, Mirotic will now aim to do the same with Milan, whose only such appearance this century came in 2021.
Milan inks former EuroLeague MVP Nikola Mirotic through 2026!
Mirotic is a multiple EuroLeague award-winner
Mirotic was voted the 2021-22 EuroLeague MVP after averaging 16.9 points on outstanding shooting (65.5% 2FG, 46.3% 3FG, 87.6% FT), 5.2 rebounds and a PIR of 20.1 in 38 games that season. In three trips to the Final Four with Barca between 2021 and 2023, he helped the team make it to the 2021 title game against eventual champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul. He led Barca to Spanish League and Cup doubles in both 2021 and 2023.
While playing for Real Madrid, having come through Los Blancos' famed academy, Mirotic became the first player to win the EuroLeague Rising Star award on two occasions: in 2010-11 and 2011-12. Since then, the 32-year-old has made it to the All-EuroLeague First Team twice (2020-21, 2021-22) and been selected to the All-EuroLeague Second Team three times (2012-13, 2013-14, 2022-23).
In addition, Mirotic has been chosen as the MVP of the Month seven times, an all-time record. He ranks 12th all-time in scoring (3,182 points) and 13th in PIR (3,789) in just 225 EuroLeague career games with Real and Barca.
Milan will be his first EuroLeague experience outside of Spain
Mirotic started his professional career with Real Madrid, where he played until 2014 and helped Los Blancos reach the three EuroLeague Final Fours and two championship games. He also played for Spanish side Palencia on loan in the 2009-10 season, as well as with the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans and Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA.
Mirotic won one Spanish League title and two Spanish Cups with Real before adding another two of each with Barca. He was named as the Spanish League MVP in 2012-13 with Real and achieved the same feat in his first season at Barça. Now, he brings his talents to Italy as he begins a new adventure with Milan.
