Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of a resounding 117-71 victory by Olympiacos Piraaus over Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Friday night was that fact that no single player starred. That's because everyone did, together.
Olympiacos smashed its club records with 117 points, a PIR of 159 and 32 assists, but no single player had more than 19 points, a PIR of 20 or 8 assists.
Instead, the Reds set a EuroLeague record with eight players recording PIRs of 13 or higher and tied the existing mark of nine players with PIRs of 10 or more.
Only Alec Peters played more than 20 minutes, but few needed much time to rack up big numbers as Olympiacos compiled the fourth-highest PIR in league history.
Sasha Vezenkov led the way with 20 PIR and 19 points in less than 16 minutes on court, but 14 other EuroLeague players had higher PIRs than him in Round 12.
Moustapha Fall followed with a PIR of 18. Peters, Kostas Sloukas and Shaquielle McKissic followed with 16 each. Tarik Black had 15, Thomas Walkup 15 and Giannoulis Larentzakis 13.
The final column in the boxscore said it all: a team plus-minus total of +230 – the equivalent of the 46-point final difference multiplied by five, the number of players on court at any given moment – with 11 players ranging from +14 (Black) to +24 (McKissic).
No single Olympiacos player starred because they all did.
