Hapoel: Bruno Caboclo undergoes back surgery

Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv announced on Tuesday that Brazilian big man [Bruno Caboclo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/bruno-caboclo/012096/) has undergone successful surgery to treat a herniated disc in his back. Caboclo, 30, will begin his rehabilitation process in Israel. Hapoel did not release a timetable for his recovery.

The big man has not played for Hapoel this season due to the injury. He was last seen in action with the Brazilian national team over the summer at 2025 FIBA AmeriCup, where he helped his country win the gold medal and was selected to the all-tournament team.

Caboclo joined Hapoel last season and helped it win the BKT EuroCup to secure qualification to the EuroLeague. He averaged 7.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in 23 EuroCup games.

Fantasy tips, Rounds 4-5: Getting better all the time

Every week that goes by gives us more information with which to make smarter picks. Sometimes, even knowing when to rule out certain players can be important data points. Choosing wisely this week also means taking into consideration that it is a two-round week. How can we use that to our advantage?

Four teams won’t have to travel this week: Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv and Paris Basketball. That is a boost for players on those teams. Zvezda and Anadolu Efes Istanbul are the only two teams to play in Round 4 on Tuesday and Round 5 on Friday, which gives those team's players an extra day of rest over their counterparts. Conversely, FC Barcelona, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, which could make things a touch more difficult for them in Round 5. All this is information worth taking into account.

However, before I get to my picks for this week, let’s review my Round 3 suggestions. Three of them did well – at least well enough to gain credits. [Hamidou Diallo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/hamidou-diallo/014086/) of Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz recorded a 16.0 for Baskonia and his value jumped 0.2 to 11.1. Olympiacos Piraeus guard [Tyler Dorsey](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyler-dorsey/009849/) was worth 18.7 points last week and his value rose 0.3 to 9.5. [Saliou Niang](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/saliou-niang/012687/) of Virtus Bologna was worth 12.0 points and that pushed his value up 0.1 credits to 7.9. Those three can be considered wins.

[Roman Sorkin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/roman-sorkin/011219/) posted an 11.0 for Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv and his value (9.9 credits) remained the same, so we can call that a wash. FC Bayern Munich's [Isiaha Mike ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/isiaha-mike/011836/)had his worst game of the season (2.0) and his value dropped 0.3 credits to 7.7. That was a bad pick. Altogether, that’s a record of 3-1-1 for my recommendations. Here's hoping for even better in Round 4 (and 5).

### Donatas Motiejunas, Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade (7.3 credits)

In his first game with the club, only days after joining, [Donatas Motiejunas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/donatas-motiejunas/lcz/) gave Crvena Zvezda the inside presence it needed by scoring 13 points and grabbing 6 rebounds for a PIR of 19 in less than 15 minutes. Now he is reunited with his old coach, Sasa Obradovic. This is the time to invest in Motiejunas.

### Andrea Obst, FC Bayern Munich (7.6 credits)

While [Andrea Obst](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/andreas-obst/004508/) is playing similar minutes to last season, he has drawn more fouls recently, which over the last two games has led to much higher PIRs. An average of 24.0 per game, to be exact. Considering his modest price and the fact that Bayern plays in Turn 1 in both of its games this week, Obst is a worthwhile gamble. The potential injury to playmaker Stefan Jovic could also affect Obst. 

### Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (9.4 credits)

Despite coming off the bench for Baskonia, [Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/timothe-luwawu-cabarrot/012080/) is playing between 25 and 30 minutes every night and is fifth in the league in scoring with 19.0 points per game. On Wednesday, Baskonia faces Paris Basketball, which traditionally plays at the fastest pace in the league. That should serve Luwawu-Cabarrot well.

### Tomas Satoransky, FC Barcelona (10.4 credits)

FC Barcelona is without two of its top three playmakers (Juan Nunez and Nicolas Laprovittola) which has opened the door to extended playing time for [Tomas Satoransky](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tomas-satoransky/002939/). The veteran point guard cashed in last week with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. While Barca's point guard situation may remain fluid – with Dario Brizuela (7.0 credits) and Juani Marcos (5.4 credits) also in the mix, Satoransky gets first crack.

### Dan Oturu, Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv (11.5 credits)

When the season started, there was not a lot of clarity as to the rotations for Hapoel. After three games, it's pretty clear that [Dan Oturu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dan-oturu/012788/) is top dog at center and he is producing nicely. His 20.93 fantasy points per game so far rank third among centers despite the fact that he is 15th in price. If you need a go-to center, Oturu could be your man and you may want to get on board while the price is still reasonable.

Throughout his career, Munich has always felt like home. It was where he stepped into the spotlight and became a star.

That’s why he had two stints in the Bavarian capital, producing some of his best basketball in Bayern’s colors, a club that will always hold a special place in his heart.

“For me, it will be important not to think of this game as being any different,” The Milan big man said before boarding the plane to Munich. “Basketball is never personal. This is a basketball game, and I will approach it as another road game against a team I have great memories of.”

In his first three EuroLeague games, Carter averaged 14.7 points, tied for the second best on the team, while shooting 40.0% from three-point land. He also posted 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

New head coach Sasa Obradovic, who was [officially announced](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/sasa-obradovic-returns-to-crvena-zvezda/) on Saturday following club's decision to [part ways with Ioannis Sfairopoulos](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/crvena-zvezda-parts-ways-with-coach-ioannis-sfairopoulos/), will have a severely depleted roster at his disposal for double-round home tilts against undefeated Zalgiris Kaunas (Tuesday) and Real Madrid (Friday).

While Nakic will be sidelined for a while with a knee problem, and Marinkovic was back in training when the team returned to Belgrade, the team will be without Milton in the double-round week due to an ankle sprain. The American guard hurt his ankle in Partizan's [Round 3 win](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/partizan-edges-efes-as-obradovic-beats-compatriot-kokoskov-in-their-first-clash/) over Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

"Milton will definitely not travel to Spain," coach Zeljko Obradovic told reporters after practice on Monday. "The medical team's assessment is that it is better for him to stay in Belgrade, and hopefully he will be back in practice when we return."

Partizan, which has won its last two games – both at home – after an opening-day loss at Dubai Basketball, travels to the Spanish capital to play Real Madrid on Wednesday before visiting Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz on Friday.

Ercan Osmani has been a consistent force for Efes, scoring in double digits in every game, but he now faces the enormous challenge of competing with the relentless Sasha Vezenkov, who sent another reminder of his talents by blasting 25 points to inspire a comfortable home win over Dubai last time out.

### FC Bayern Munich vs. EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (20:30 CEST)

Returning to winning ways is the task as Bayern (1-2) welcomes Milan (1-2). Former Bayern big man Devin Booker will look to damage his old club after delivering his best Milan performance to date in last week’s loss to Monaco, combining 15 points and 8 rebounds. Booker’s physical presence could give his team valuable extra possessions against a Bayern side which has only averaged 17.7 defensive rebounds per game, the lowest tally in the league. The German team also needs to rediscover its usual long-range potency after only making 6 triples in last week’s heavy home loss to Zalgiris, while Milan will also hope that Shavon Shields and Armoni Brooks can rediscover their range after converting a combined 2 triples on 12 attempts during last week’s loss to Monaco.

### Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens vs. LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne (20:15 CEST)

Panathinaikos (2-1) is gunning for its third win of the season as it welcomes an ASVEL team (1-2) targeting a first road triumph. Reigning league MVP Kendrick Nunn again demonstrated his importance to Panathinaikos by netting a dramatic game-winner at Baskonia last week, and the Greens will now look for an improved inside game after making just 51.8% of two-point attempts this season – fourth-worst in the league. ASVEL has struggled even more in that respect, making just 49.6% of two-pointers (19th in the league), so this game could be decided by effectiveness inside the paint. Glynn Watson needs to find greater accuracy for the French team after making just 33.3% of his field-goal attempts so far this season.

### Virtus Bologna vs. AS Monaco (20:30 CEST)

Monaco (2-1) is targeting a third straight victory as it travels to face a Virtus team (1-2) aiming to snap a two-game losing slide. The Roca Team boasts one of the league’s most efficient offenses, committing fewer turnovers than any other team (8.7 per game), while Virtus is next-worst in that category with an average of 16.7 ball losses. Elie Okobo has been a key part of that success for Monaco, dishing 16 assists without a turnover so far this season, while big man Daniel Theis boasts a similarly impressive stat with 17 of his 18 two-point efforts converted. Virtus is relying on an explosion from Carsen Edwards, who is seeking a return to form after making just 1 of his 7 three-point attempts in last week’s loss at Paris.

A rematch of last season's EuroCup semifinal series will see Valencia (2-1) seek revenge against Hapoel (2-1). The Israeli team triumphed in that showdown thanks to a stellar 32-points performance from Anthony Blakeney, who has continued his form into the new season by averaging 17.7 points per game. Valencia needs to fix its defense after allowing 108 points in last week’s loss against Barcelona, while also maintaining the free-flowing style which has helped Darius Thompson average 15.7 points per game. The Spanish team has been boosted by Brancou Badio’s return from injury, while Hapoel will attempt to return to winning ways with former Valencia guard Chris Jones, who needs to take better care of the basketball after so far recording more turnovers (2.7 per game) than assists (2.0 per night).

Resurgent Real (2-1) will aim for a third straight win with a visit from a Partizan team (2-1) chasing exactly the same reward. The Serbian team will run its offense through the Brown duo: leading scorer Sterling (16.7 points per game) and top distributor Carlik (5.0 assists per night). Real’s home win over ASVEL last week was chiefly facilitated by summer signing Chuma Okeke, who made 17 points without missing a shot. Real has won seven games straight against Partizan but needs to improve its three-point shooting after making just 30% from deep so far – next to worst in the league – and will take hope from the fact that Partizan has the league’s worst perimeter defense, allowing opponents to convert 46.2% of three-point attempts.

### Paris Basketball vs. Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (20:45 CEST)

Baskonia (0-3) will attempt to change its status as the league's only winless team with a tough trip to face confident Paris (2-1). The French team's offensive leader is clearly Nadir Hifi, who ranks second in the league with 21.3 points per night with at least 4 triples in every game. But Daulton Hommes – who missed nearly all of last season through injury – showed he poses another weapon from deep by converting 60% of his triples so far. Baskonia will feel frustrated after last week’s last-second loss to Panathinaikos, but can rely on backcourt orchestration from Trent Forrest who ranks second in the league with 7.3 assists per night. In the paint, the Spanish team will rely on Tadas Sedekerskis to continue his average of 7.3 rebounds.

Stats review: Notes on Zalgiris's fast start

Only one team remains unbeaten after three rounds of the 2025-26 EuroLeague Regular Season. That remarkable parity is what fans should expect from the league at this point, putting the level [Zalgiris Kaunas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/zalgiris-kaunas/zal/) has had to play at to avoid an early loss into context. Facing last year’s finalists back-to-back in the opening two-round week and traveling to face an FC Bayern Munich team that has been tough at SAP Garden, the historic Lithuanian club has not benefited from an easy schedule to start the year under first-year head coach Tomas Masiulis, but has a perfect record nonetheless.

The formula has not been overwhelmingly complex for the Zalgiris; it is playing at one of the league’s slowest paces, which has magnified its hot shooting to start the year.  While shot selection and activity level off the ball have stood out as well, Zalgiris has shot a league-best 48% from beyond the arc while using a league-high 26.6% of its possessions in the final 4 seconds of the shot clock.  The team has already scored 65 points in late clock situations - 15 more than the next most prolific teams and some 7 points per game more than last season’s top scoring team. The result has been a pressure cooker for opposing offenses as they have not only been unable to keep up shot-for-shot, but have had fewer opportunities to establish a rhythm or make headway on the scoreboard. 

A confluence of things have gone right for Zalgiris on the offensive side where it leads the EuroLeague in efficiency in the early going, but the performance of [Sylvain Francisco](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sylvain-francisco/007975/) has been especially key as the 28-year-old has not only been a creative force with his ability to make something out of nothing under time pressure, but he’s also started the year shooting 9-of-15 from beyond the arc.  Even with some regression to the mean inevitably on the way, his shooting has been a separating factor early on in a league where competitive advantages are extremely hard to come by.

[Moses Wright](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/moses-wright/012878/) has played a notable role in Zalgiris’s execution as well, ranking second in the EuroLeague behind Francisco in points scored in late clock situations. His timely play finishing to go along with the spot-up shooting provided by [Dustin Sleva](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dustin-sleva/011927/), [Maodo Lo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/maodo-lo/007032/), [Nigel Williams-Goss](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nigel-williams-goss/007982/), and [Azuolas Tubelis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/azuolas-tubelis/008192/) has made Zalgiris a daunting matchup thus far.  This group has not just demoralized defenses right before the shot clock buzzer, it has been opportunistic in transition, cut extremely effectively off its spacing, and had no issue sharing the ball while limiting miscues. 

Momentum is a fleeting thing in the EuroLeague as the bar is extremely high to string together wins. Coach Masiulis’s team has found it to start the year with a spectacular start offensively.  While the move to a 38-game regular season means there is an even longer way to go to reach the playoffs, the way the league landscape looks early on suggests the recent trend of razor-thin margins along the postseason cut-lines is probably not going anywhere. As a result, the value of road wins and victories over playoff opponents in stretches like this cannot be discounted and, undefeated or not after the coming two-round week, Zalgiris was the first team to strike this season.

Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv bounced back from its EuroLeague loss to archrival Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv with a commanding 97–82 win over Ironi Kiryat Ata in the opening round of the Israeli League on Sunday. Despite playing without Dan Oturu, Jonathan Motley, Vasa Micic and Elijah Bryant, Coach Dimitris Itoudis’s squad showcased its depth and ability to win in different ways.

Tyler Ennis led six Hapoel scorers in double figures with 18 points, Tai Odiase and Iftah Ziv added 14 points apiece and Tomer Ginat posted a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds). Malik Hall paced Kiryat Ata with 17 points and 7 boards.

The game began at a high tempo, with Kiryat Ata competing well and even leading at times, fueled by Bodie Hume’s four-point play. Itay Segev stood out early for Hapoel with hustle plays, giving the hosts a 23–21 edge after the first quarter. In the second period, Hapoel stormed ahead and a strong stretch by Ennis and Ziv made it 48–37 at halftime.

Kiryat Ata rallied in the third quarter as Tomer Asayag’s playmaking and defensive stops cut the gap to just 3 points. However, foul trouble proved decisive as Hall and Hume exited early, leaving the visitors short-handed. Hapoel took advantage to regain a double-digit margin by the quarter’s end and never looked back, with Bar Timor pushing the difference to 20 points early in the fourth quarter.
