Partizan dominates ASVEL, 92-71

Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade took control early and never let down in dominating visiting LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 92-71 on Tuesday at Stark Arena. Partizan improved to 11-11, holding an even record for the first time since Round 8. Meanwhile, ASVEL dropped to 8-14 on the season in a game where the hosts used an 11-2 first-quarter run to open a double-digit lead and take the lead for good. The margin was as highas 29 points before Partizan slowed down.
Kevin Punter scored 17 of his 22 points in the first half to pace his team in a victory. Dante Exum added 13, Mathias Lessort 12, and James Nunnally 10 points for Partizan. Youssoupha Fall collected 14 points and 6 rebounds, Yves Pons also scored 14 and Dee Bost had 11 points in ASVEL's loss.

Partizan had 2 three-pointers, both by Punter, and a pair of three-point plays in the first 6 minutes of the game. A three-pointer from Ioannis Papapetrou helped open a 23-13 advantage. Retin Obasohan had a three-point play late in the first quarter and Antoine Diot hit a triple early in the second, but the visitors never came closer than 27-21. Fall was doing the damage inside for ASVEL. Exum restored a double-digit margin before Nunnally nailed back-to-back threes to make it 43-37. Punter extended the difference to 17 points before three-pointers from Nando De Colo and Bost before halftime gave the visitors hope, 50-36, at the break.
Fall scored the first bucket of the second half, but Uros Trifunovic and Aleksa Avramovic fueled a 7-0 Partizan run. Avramovic and Punter sparked, and then Zach LeDay and Lessort combined for 11 points, in a 16-2 run that broke the game wide open, 75-46. Pons scored 5 points at the end of the third, and ASVEL scored the first 6 points of the fourth, but it did not take long for the hosts to get back into their rhythm. The teams traded baskets as the game was going to its close, with Partizan mostly resting its main players already thinking about the next game.
