Real Madrid has won its fifth Spanish Super Cup in a row – and ninth in total – after beating FC Barcelona 89-83 in overtime on Sunday night. Walter Tavares recorded a game-high 24 points, of which six came during the overtime period, while a further three Real players got into double figures: Dzanan Musa (19), Gabriel Deck (15) and Sergio Llull (14). Real managed to overcome an 11-point deficit early in the third quarter as it went into the final quarter of regulation with a six-point advantage. However, Barca showed plenty of fight in the fourth quarter and tied things up, as the game went to overtime. It was not enough, though, as Real outscored Barca by six points in overtime to secure the first trophy of the Chus Mateo era at the club.
