Real Madrid extends forward Alberto Abalde
Real Madrid announced on Tuesday that forward Alberto Abalde has extended his contract until June 2027.
Abalde (2.02 meters, 28 years old) has spent the last four years with Los Blancos, helping the team reach three consecutive Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Games and wining the EuroLeague crown in 2023.
Last season, Abalde appeared in 24 games, posting 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in limited action. He also averaged 5.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in the Spanish League, helping the team win the domestic championship. Over the last four years, Abalde also helped Real Madrid win the Spanish League in 2022 and Spanish Cup last season.
Prior to his time in Madrid, Abalde played with Valencia Basket from 2017 to 2020. That is where he made his EuroLeague debut in 2017, helping the team win the EuroCup title in 2019. Abalde grew up with Joventut Badalona, which is where he made his professional debut in 2013, and has also spent as a teenager with CB Prat in Spanish lower divisions. Abalde has also been a member of the Spanish national team.
