Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz pulled out a dramatic 103-96 overtime win over Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade on Friday night, thanks in large part to Markus Howard's shooting from three-point range. The first-year Baskonia guard nailed 8 shots from deep, including a buzzer-beater in the fourth quarter to send the game beyond regulation time. Howard shot 8-for-12 from three and finished with 33 points to improve Baskonia's record to 2-0, while Partizan drops to 0-2.

For Baskonia, which tied its club record with 17 three-pointers on 38 attempts, it had four other players record double-digit scoring totals in the win: Matthew Costello (19 points), Rokas Giedraitis (13), Darius Thompson (11) and Tadas Sedekerskis (11). Kevin Punter scored 26 points for Partizan in the defeat, while Zach LeDay also contributed 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Mathias Lessort finished with 19 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.

Partizan had a better start to the game thanks to 5 offensive rebounds in the first quarter, with Lessort playing a key role as the visitors opened up a 14-23 lead. But Howard started to get hot, nailing 4 three-pointer in the second quarter. During that second quarter, Baskonia hit 7 threes and took over the lead, as the hosts took a 46-42 advantage into halftime. After the break, however, the teams started trading blows, with Kevin Punter scoring 10 points for the visitors, which put Partizan back in front, 65-67. Partizan kept a slim lead for the majority of the fourth quarter, including in the final minute as Punter's mid-range jumper with 24 seconds to go made it 82-86 in Partizan's favor. Darius Thompson answered with a triple, but Partizan remained in front, with James Nunnally having a chance to seal the win from the foul line with 7.3 seconds left in regulation. But he missed the second free throw, the basketball went into Howard's hands, and he then went up the other end of the court to nail a buzzer-beating three over Punter, which sent the game into overtime, 89-89.
Partizan's Yam Madar hit a three from way downtown, and Lessort's tip-in gave the Serbians a 5-point cushion, but Howard had 5 points of his own, including another triple, his eighth of the night. Baskonia finished the game with a 14-2 run, as it celebrated a dramatic victory that takes its record to 2-0 for the first time in 11 years.
