ALBA Berlin recorded its seventh win of the season on Friday night after coming back to beat Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, 72-87. ALBA was down by double digits in the first half, but it found a way to stay in the game thanks to its stellar two-point accuracy and overall dominance in the paint.
ALBA outrebounded Zvezda 38-24, and the visitors were particularly active on the glass in the fourth quarter, grabbing 15 rebounds to the hosts' 8. Of those 15 boards, 6 came on the offensive end, while Zvezda has 8 offensive rebounds in the entire game.
But, even before that, ALBA was particularly efficient inside the arc. ALBA was an impressive 14-of-18 (77.8%) on two-pointers in the first half, and it had an identical percentage going into the fourth quarter, having gone 21-of-27 (77.8%).
ALBA finished the game 27-of-41 (65.9%) in that department, but it made up for those extra fourth-quarter missed shots by dominating the glass.
Gabriele Procida had 11 points on 4-for-4 two-point shooting, as well as 3 offensive rebounds. Yani Wetzell came up big with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Luke Sikma and Louis Olinde also had multiple offensive boards, while guards Maodo Lo and Jaleen Smith were a combined 10-for-12 on two-point attempts in a big win.
