Olympiacos Piraeus is probably one of the happiest teams that the 2022 calendar has moved from January to February. And now that the Greek team has beaten Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz 62-72, the Reds hope that some of their confidence from the end of 2021 has returned.
Olympiacos win at Baskonia was a confidence-booster

Olympiacos showed it can still play great defense, limiting the Spanish side to just 62 points. That was really important after the team had lost its last four games – including all three in January.
"This victory gives us a little more calm, a little more confidence. We had a bad month of January," said Sasha Vezenkov, referring to road losses against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv as well as a home defeat against Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade.

February actually started with a loss as well, 75-67 at first-place Real Madrid on Wednesday. But the loss against Zvezda had been especially painful because it was the first defeat at home following nine victories. Before that, all of Olympiacos's problems had been away from home, where it lost eight of 11 games before winning at Baskonia.
"Overall, I feel good for us as a team. We’ve been on a four-game losing streak and it feels good to get one on the road. It was a tough one against a good team," said Tyler Dorsey, who led the Reds with 17 points. "We just gotta build off this. We gotta get better and back to a winning mindset. And I think that was the start of it today."
Now that the calendar reads February.
