FC Barcelona welcomes Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz in Round 10, giving fans the chance to see two very different big men – Barca's Jan Vesely against Baskonia's Maik Kotsar – go against each other.
Marquee matchup: Vesely, Kotsar to lock horns in the paint
Vesely is way more experienced in this matchup. He is in his 12th season in the competition, was chosen as the 2018-19 EuroLeague MVP, and made it to the All-EuroLeague First Team three times. At age 32, Vesely may not be as explosive as before but has developed a very effective mid-range jumper and a veteran’s feel for the game. He is averaging 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and a PIR of 9.0 until now, mostly coming off the bench.
Kotsar is making a sudden impact in his first EuroLeague season He is averaging 11.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and a PIR of 14.1. Kotsar ranks seventh overall in two-point shooting percentage (72.7% 2FG) and ninth in shots attempted inside the arc (7.3 per night). Kotsar needs to use his speed and great hands in pick-and-roll situations but also in transition, when he can be really dangerous by outrunning opposing big men to get easy shots.
