FC Bayern Munich will look to get back on track when it hosts Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv on Friday. Bayern (3-7) had won three of four before falling by a single point in Monaco last week. Maccabi (5-5) is still seeking its first road win of the season after falling to Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade in a thriller on Thursday.
Bayern hosts Maccabi and two of its former stars
The home team has won five of the last six meetings between these teams. The last time Maccabi won in Munich was in March 2019.
The game will see two former Bayern stars return to Munich. Wade Baldwin carried Bayern to within a single shot of the Final Four in 2021 and last season Darrun Hilliard was Bayern’s top scorer with 13.7 points per game. The duo joins forces with Lorenzo Brown to lead a potent Maccabi backcourt. Brown leads Maccabi in scoring (16.3 ppg.) and is tied for third in the league in assists (6.4 apg.) and Baldwin (15.6 ppg., 4.5 apg.) is second on the team in both categories.
Bayern features a balanced attack with nine players averaging at least 6 points per game. Cassius Winston (10.4 ppg.) has been Bayern’s top scorer this season and sharpshooter Andi Obst has made at least 3 three-pointers in each of his last four games during which he’s averaged 13.3 points per game. In the paint, Bayern features a former Maccabi star, Othello Hunter (6.9 ppg., 4.8 rpg.), who will face some of his old teammates.
