His successful return to Zalgiris Kaunas last season has seen swingman Tomas Dimsa rewarded with a new two-year contract with an option for a third season, the club announced on Sunday, after winning the Lithuanian League title the previous evening.
Dimsa (1.96 meters, 29 years old) averaged 5.9 points in less than 16 minutes per game last season, coming largely off the bench, as he helped Zalgiris reach the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs.
A native of Kaunas, Dimsa debuted as a pro with Zalgiris in 2013 and appeared in 25 EuroLeague games over the next two seasons. His career then took him to Frankfurt in Germany, to Varese and Treviso in Italy, and to Gran Canaria in Spain, with intermittent returns to Lithuania for Prienai, Utenos and Lietkabelis. Dimsa stood out in the 2020-21 7DAYS EuroCup season by averaging 10.2 points and 2.4 assists in 19 games as Gran Canaria reached the semifinals.
