Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade has appointed Vladimir Jovanovic as its new head coach, the club announced on Friday. Jovanovic, 38, has signed a three-year deal with his hometown club where he previously worked with youth teams. Considered one of the most talented young Serbian coaches, Jovanovic started his coaching career a decade ago as an assistant with FMP Zeleznik, then in 2016 spent a year as coach of Zvezda's U16 team.
Jovanovic got his first head coaching gig in 2017 with FMP, where he spent three-and a half years. Last year he took over a fellow ABA League side Cibona Zagreb of Croatia, where he spent a second half of the 2020-21 and the first half of last season. He has also served as an assistant with the Serbian national team, and currently serves as a head coach of U20 Serbian national team. Jovanovic is not set to coach in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague for the first time.
