Real Madrid has put it hands on one of the top young players on the continent by signing Gabriele Procida to a three-year deal, the club announced on Friday.
Procida (1.98 meters, 23 years old) averaged 9.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 20 minutes per game as a part-time starter for ALBA Berlin last season, his third with the club. The season before, he was chosen as the EuroLeague Rising Star.
The Italian swingman boasts a fine all-around game, from solid ball handling, to strong drives to the hoop and smart finishing in transition and the half court, which should mesh with Coach Sergio Scariolo's vision for Los Blancos.
Procida came through the ranks with Cantu and made his professional debut there before joining Fortitudo Bologna in 2021. He has represented the Italian national team at both the youth and senior levels. Procida made his senior national team debut in February 2021, when he was still 18 years old.
