Real Madrid has added another Frenchman to its roster in Petr Cornelie, who has signed a one-year contract at the club. Cornelie (2.11 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Grand Rapids of the G-League, where he averaged 17.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 30 games last season. He will make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut next season.

Cornelie played in the 7DAYS EuroCup during the 2013-14 and 2015-16 seasons while representing Le Mans of his native France. He came off the bench in one game for 2:37 minutes in his first season in the competition, while he started in five of his 10 appearances in his second, recording totals of 58 points and 54 rebounds. His all-time averages in the EuroCup stand at 5.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Cornelie made his professional debut for Le Mans in 2013 and remained at the club until 2019, although in the 2017-18 season he played on loan at fellow French club Metropolitans 92. The next two years of his career were spent at Elan Bearnais of France, and then he joined the roster of Denver of the NBA for the 2021-22 campaign. Cornelie also played for Grand Rapids before joining the team outright in the second half of the season.
