Zalgiris Kaunas will lose some of its veteran backcourt leadership through December after point guard Lukas Lekavicius suffered a broker rib, the club announced on Tuesday. Lekavicius, 28, suffered the injury in a Lithuanian League game on Monday evening. Lekavicius went down in the third quarter after feeling a sudden pain in his chest. He left the game immediately and could not continue. Lekavicius underwent testing on Tuesday and was diagnosed with a broken rib that is set to keep him out of action for at least four weeks

Now in his ninth Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season, seven with Zalgiris and two with Panathinaikos Athens, Lekavicius has been averaging 5.6 points and 1.4 assists while shooting 95.0% – eighth-best in the competition – at the free-throw line. In his 242 games all-time, Lekavicius has been good for 6.9 points and 2.4 assists.
