A double-double by Leonard Kroger proved key in his team getting their first win of the tournament
U18 Next Gen Team Ulm gets off the mark by downing U18 Cedevita Olimpija



After suffering defeat in its opening game at the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague Ulm qualifier, U18 Next Gen Team Ulm bounced back in Round 2 by defeating U18 Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 74-72 in a close-fought game. Cedevita Olimpija, which was victorious in Round 1, now shares a 1-1 record with the Next Gen Team Ulm.
A slow start allowed Cedevita Olimpija to hold a 16-22 lead after 10 minutes, but the Next Gen Team Ulm locked in on defense in the second quarter as it outscored the Slovenian outfit 19-10 to take a 35-32 advantage into halftime. The Next Gen Team Ulm came out firing for the second half and went up by 16 points (48-32) just a few minutes into the third, but Cedevita Olimpija trimmed the gap to 56-52 entering the final frame. Tim Waerniers gave the Next Gen Team Ulm a 74-67 edge with 1:56 remaining, but Cedevita Olimpija could only score free throws the rest of the way as it came up just short.
Leonard Kroger posted a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double for the winners, while Waerniers had 16 points, Karl-Randell Kouame added 14 points, and Jamie Edoka chipped in with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Cedevita Olimpija was led by the 16 points of Roman Kolka, followed by 15 points for Cameron Houindo, and 12 each for Janze Novak and Bine Pregl.
