U18 Stellazzurra Rome defeated U18 Maccabi Tel Aviv 62-74 in the first-place game at the ANGT Patras, the second qualifying event of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament, on Sunday.
Stellazzurra wins ANGT Patras qualifier!

Both Stellazzurra and Maccabi finished their respective groups in undefeated fashion, with Maccabi surprising 2016 continental champion U18 FC Barcelona to grab the top spot in Group A. Earier Sunday, the U18 Next Generation Team Patras bested Barcelona for third place; U18 Helsinki Basketball Academy defeated U18 ZPA Tbilisi for fifth place; and U18 Olympiacos Piraeus edged U18 Promitheas Patras for seventh place.

Stellazzurra secured its ticket to the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Finals after defeating Maccabi in the first-place game. Stellazzurra’s defense conceded just 3 points in the third quarter to lay the foundation for the victory. Matteo Visintin led the way for the winners with 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals for a performance index rating of 27 and the MVP trophy. Lucas Fresno added 19 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Ofri Naveh paced Maccabi with 17 points and Tomer Agmon had 16 points.
U18 FC Barcelona 68-88 U18 Next Generation Team Patras
Next Generation Team Patras locked up third place after defeating Barcelona 68-88. Pacome Dadiet led NGP with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists while Illan Pietrus and Ben Saraf both scored 13 points. Barcelona, the 2016 continental champion, was led by Teodor Simic with 27 points.
U18 ZPA Tbilisi 59-73 U18 Helsinki Basketball Academy
Helsinki made more history at the ANGT Patras by knocking off Tbilisi 59-73 for its second victory and fifth place in its first-ever appearance in the competition. Helsinki went on a 2-16 run spanning halftime to grab a 15-point lead and never looked back. Miro Little paced the winners with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Luka Alavidze collected 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals for Tbilisi.
U18 Olympiacos Piraeus 59-57 U18 Promitheas Patras
Olympiacos finished in seventh place after defeating host Promitheas 59-57. The back-and-forth game was decided on Georgios Spilopoulos’s three-pointer with 43 seconds left. Spilopoulos and Michael Sprintzios both scored 14 points for the winners. Tunde Fasasi collected 16 points and 9 rebounds in defeat for Promitheas.
