About the Program:
Aris Betsson Thessaloniki BC embraces the spirit of inclusion by partnering with Aris BC Wheelchair, an amateur wheelchair basketball club operating within the broader ARIS sports family. Their work with athletes aged 19 to 65, across all ability levels, makes them a powerful community partner in demonstrating that sport truly is for everyone.
By joining forces, Aris BC aims to strengthen an under-represented part of the sporting community while contributing to a long-term, sustainable social impact. The close proximity of the facilities and the daily interaction between both organizations allow for seamless collaboration, meaningful learning experiences, and maximum engagement for all participants. At the same time, the wheelchair team benefits from the visibility, support, and resources of a professional club, helping raise awareness for disability sports and showcasing basketball as one of the few disciplines where able-bodied and disabled athletes can compete together.
The program aims to increase understanding of the challenges faced by people with mobility limitations, encourage empathy and active allyship, and highlight how inclusive sports environments can transform communities. From mixed 3x3 games to accessibility simulations, school engagement activities, design thinking for inclusive arenas, and joint community service events, each week offers a new opportunity to learn, connect, and grow together.
The Aris BC One Team program is designed to create lasting relationships, elevate the visibility of adaptive athletes, and inspire the broader public to rethink what inclusion truly means - both on and off the court.
