About the program:
Olympiacos Piraeus is carrying out its first One Team program of the season with the 1st Elementary School of Agios Dimitrios, which works with children with intellectual disabilities from the region of Athens and aims to promote basketball values to as many children as possible. The program’s objectives are focused on building a safe space to contribute to the social inclusion of the participants, using basketball to make them understand their power as human beings and demand their rights in a positive way. A group of 20 participants aged 9-13 are participating in the program, with weekly sessions during the whole season. Two Olympiacos coaches and three volunteers are involved, including a health coach and a psychologist who takes care of participants' needs. Olympiacos is funding its One Team program thanks to the support of its Official Store which covers some basic needs from its specialized CSR products. Olympiacos’s second program has been developed together with the Exelixi Zois NGO (by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation), the social partner House of Females which was founded in March 2018 to provide expert support and care to adults, minors or adolescents who have spent time in closed child-protection institutions. A group of 13 female participants aged 13-18 will learn different life skills, focusing on team bonding and team building through specially designed basketball drills in a positive and safe environment.
