About the Program:

For the second season in the row Virtus Bologna will work together with the ASD Pallacanestro Castel San Pietro Terme 2010 for their One Team program. Building on last season´s success, this season program aims to establish a multi-year educational framework, allowing children to grow with basketball as a constant tool for learning and integration. The goal is to create a model that can be replicated in other schools in the Bologna metropolitan area.

Targeting children aged 8–10 from local schools the program uses basketball as a tool to foster empathy, teamwork, and personal growth. Over 15 sessions from November to May, participants engage in on-court drills and special events that build life skills such as trust, communication, emotional regulation, and leadership. The program also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 10 by addressing inequalities and encouraging participation regardless of ability, gender, or background.

Alongside Virtus ambassador Daniel Hackett, the initiative blends professional mentorship with grassroots engagement. Highlights include family-inclusive sessions, environmental awareness activities, and a celebratory One Team Festival. Children will also attend Virtus home games and interact with players, reinforcing their sense of belonging and motivation. With strong backing from local sponsors and media coverage, the program aims to create a replicable model for long-term educational impact across Bologna’s metropolitan schools while bridging professional sport and community development in a meaningful, sustainable way.

By combining Virtus Bologna´s institutional strength with ASD Pallacanestro Castel San Pietro Terme 2010´s community-based expertise, the program provides a bridge between professional sport and local education, fostering both social responsibility and grassroots basketball development.
