Main life skills: Team-building, Communication, Respect, Personal Responsibility

About the program: In its second year of participation in One Team, Promitheas Patras continues to work together with 18th Secondary School of Patras by helping a group of 20 deaf and hard of hearing children aged 12-17. Since 1985 the school has been recognized as a model of a 'mixed' school, where students with hearing disabilities study and attend special classes alongside general education students. This is a very innovative and bold experiment that has delivered positive outcomes for both able-bodied and disabled students, achieving a good level of mutual respect and understanding through this coexistence. Specialized teachers and experts are responsible for the education of the children.

The objectives of the One Team program are focused on the integration of deaf children into the community and raising awareness about this disability. Basketball will be used as a tool to teach the participants different social skills: team-building, communication, respect and personal responsibility, among others. The program will start in March with online sessions and will continue with on-court sessions when possible until the end of the season.
