About the program:
Valencia Basket has teamed up with Asindown for its One Team program, while it is also receiving support from CaixaBank through the LaFundacion LaCaixa, which collaborates with hundreds of organizations and thousands of volunteers who work together to fight poverty and exclusion. Asindown is a foundation which was created in 1989 by families with children with Down's syndrome. The goal of Asindown is for families to come together to promote the full social inclusion of those with Down's syndrome. Asindown is an innovative and transformative entity, which focuses on empowering people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities by encouraging them to make the world a more interesting place. A group of 17 participants, aged between 16 and 21, will work on a weekly basis with Valencia and Asindown to learn both individual values and group social values. These sessions will focus on empathy, effort, equality and respect, as well as how to know win and how to lose. Every Wednesday over a 10-week period, there will be a 90-minute session held at Valencia’s Alqueria del Basket practice facility.
