A disappointing start to the season has seen the club take action
Barcelona sacks Joan Penarroya

FC Barcelona has officially parted ways with head coach Joan Penarroya, becoming the second EuroLeague team to change its play-caller so far this season.
Since being appointed in the summer of 2024, he had posted a 27-21 record in charge of Barcelona. Through nine rounds this season, the Blaugrana have a 5-4 record and sit ninth in the EuroLeague standings.
Penarroya's last EuroLeague game at the Barcelona helm was a 92-101 home defeat to archrival Real Madrid in Round 9 last Friday.
Domestically, Barcelona is 2-4 in the Spanish League and has lost its last two contests, with a 96-78 loss at Basquet Girona on Sunday proving to be the final straw.
"Barça basketball coach Joan Peñarroya will not continue at the helm of the first team," read Barcelona's statement.
"FC Barcelona would like to thank the coach for his professionalism and wishes him every success in the future.
"The Terrassa native, who arrived in the 2024-25 season, will be replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Oscar Orellana."
In this upcoming double-round week in the EuroLeague, Barcelona travels to face FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday before hosting Virtus Bologna on Friday.
