Olympiacos made a record-breaking start to Thursday night’s derby against Panathinaikos and one player, in particular, produced a phenomenal opening 10 minutes of action.
Flawless Fall sparked Olympiacos surge

The Reds flew out of the blocks to enjoy a 38-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. It was the highest-scoring first quarter in Olympiacos’s history, eclipsing the 35 points scored against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv earlier this season, and the biggest first-quarter deficit ever suffered by Panathinaikos – outdoing a 13-33 scoreline against Maccabi in 2003.
Moustapha Fall was unstoppable in those opening stages, scoring two of the first four baskets and dishing assists for the other two – including a highlight-reel play as he blocked a shot from Eleftherios Bochoridis and went straight down the other end for a dunk-and-one.
Fall finished the first quarter with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocked shot for a PIR of 16, on his way to impressive all-around totals of 13 points (on 6-of-7 two-point shooting), 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and a PIR of 25 – his second-highest of the season.
