Valencia’s summer signing flirted with history in a road win over ASVEL
Omari Moore delivers near triple-double in EuroLeague bow

Several newcomers made their EuroLeague debuts in the opening round of the 2025–26 season, but Omari Moore's performance at LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne stood out as one of the most complete.
Riding the momentum of their recent Spanish Super Cup triumph, Valencia Basket marked its return to EuroLeague play after a one-year absence with a hard-fought 77-80 road win at the Astroballe on Wednesday night.
Fellow summer addition Darius Thompson led Valencia in scoring with 15 points, while veteran Matt Costello contributed a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Nate Reuvers also stepped up with 13 points, 9 of which came in the opening quarter.
But while others made timely contributions, Moore was consistent throughout. In his EuroLeague debut at age 25, the Valencia guard played with poise and maturity beyond his experience – allowing the game to come to him, making smart decisions, and never forcing the action.
Moore dished out three assists in the first quarter, knocked down back-to-back triples in the second, and added five more points and two more assists in the third. In the closing minutes, he delivered two key plays: setting up Thompson for a clutch bucket that made it 75–79 with 1:22 remaining, and then finding Reuvers, who drew a crucial foul to help seal the win.
“All the credit goes to my teammates and coaches for believing in me,” Moore told EuroLeague TV postgame. “I just try to play my game – take what the defense gives me, play with effort, all that kind of stuff.”
By the final buzzer, Moore had flirted with a rare EuroLeague triple-double, finishing with 12 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds, an eye-catching debut that earned praise from his teammates.
“We’ve got a bunch of new guys playing EuroLeague for the first time,” said Costello in his postgame flash interview. “They’re still adjusting to the physicality and the speed, but they did great tonight. Omari’s been playing solid for us, and he just kept it going. Hopefully we carry this into Friday and then through the rest of the season.”
Having stolen the spotlight in France, Moore now turns his attention to helping Valencia go 2–0 when it hosts Virtus Bologna on Friday night. And with Roig Arena set for its EuroLeague debut, there's no better time for Moore to deliver another standout performance, this time in front of his home crowd.
