Before Thursday's game in Tel Aviv between Maccabi Playtika and Real Madrid, the home team organized a ceremony to honor one of Maccabi's all-time greats, Aulcie Perry. The big man starred for Maccabi for a decade in the late 1970s and early 1980s, during which he helped Maccabi win its first two EuroLeague crowns (1977, 1981) and reach the 1980 championship game, which it lost against Real.
In honor of the event, Real Madrid legends Jose Miguel Antunez, Wayne Brabender, Jose Manuel Beiran, Chechu Biriukov, Carmelo Cabrera, Vicente Ramos and Felipe Reyes joined the club for the trip to Tel Aviv.
Maccabi legends and Aulcie's former teammates Mickey Berkowitz, Motti Aroesti, Tal Brody, Bob Griffin, Shuki Schwartz, Shmuel Zysman and Doron Jamchy were also in attendance, as well as members of Maccabi's ownership team and Perry's wife, Ahuva.
The night before, several of the former Real and Maccabi players joined Perry for dinner at a Tel Aviv restaurant, where they reminisced over their former battles on the floor and embraced the friendships that have developed since.
