Zalgiris Kaunas will be without star guard Keenan Evans for the rest of the season after the player suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Thursday’s home win over Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. The club announced that Evans underwent surgery and the timetable for his recovery is 6-8 months. He suffered the injury in the first minute of the game and was helped off the court and into the locker room.
Entering the game, Evans was playing his best basketball and was averaging 16.8 points and 3.9 assists for a PIR of 18.6 in his second season in the competition. Those numbers would have ranked him sixth in the league in both scoring and index rating.
