As Fenerbahce Beko secured an impressive road win at Real Madrid in Round 14's Rivalry Series game, Nigel Hayes-Davis scored a season-high 33 points to get his team back on track after back-to-back losses.

Towards the end of the first quarter of [Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/fenerbahce-beko-istanbul/ulk/)’s Rivalries Series trip to [Real Madrid](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/real-madrid/mad/) on Thursday night, it looked as though the Turkish team was heading for its second loss of the week in Spain.

A three-point strike from [Sergio Llull](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sergio-llull/tgb/) had given the Spanish team a double-digit lead, 20-10, with Fenerbahce having scored just four baskets in the opening nine minutes. After suffering a dispiriting [88-76 loss at Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/baskonia-beats-fenerbahce-88-76-for-second-straight-win/) two days earlier, Saras Jasikevicius’s players might have been forgiven for wishing the time away for their flight back to Turkiye.

But the mentality of this team does not allow them to simply roll over and accept a third consecutive defeat, and Fenerbahce found a way to fight back to claim a valuable and ultimately comfortable [70-82 victory](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/fenerbahce-blasts-past-real-70-82/).

The catalyst, inevitably, was [Nigel Hayes-Davis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nigel-hayes-davis/008962/), who was a constant threat throughout the game. The forward started off by scoring his team’s first three field goals of the night at a time when no other visiting player could make a basket, later netted a three-pointer to give his team its first lead (20-23), then struck another triple for Fenerbahce’s first double-digit margin (41-52) and finished off by sinking his sixth threeball on the final buzzer for a total of 33 points – more than three times the amount scored by any other visiting player.

After the game, Hayes-Davis revealed that he found unlikely inspiration to bounce back from quiet games in losses against EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, when he respectively scored just 6 and 11 points.

"I just watched a video," he told EuroLeague TV. "Kobe \[Bryant\] was giving an interview and they asked him, 'It looks like you’ve hit a wall.' He was like, 'I don’t think so, but if I did, then I’ll just run though the wall.'

"I watched that right before I walked on the court, so that’s the mentality I went in there with. Being aggressive, because I learned a valuable lesson: I tried to let the game come to me against Milan and [Niko \[Mirotic\]](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nikola-mirotic/000796/) embarrassed me, and then I tried to do the same thing in Baskonia and we got embarrassed as a team. So I wanted to show today that I learned from those lessons."

That intent to play with more aggression was replicated throughout the Fenerbahce team, which had faced criticism from Coach Jasikevicius following the loss at Baskonia two days earlier.

"You really shouldn’t have to tell us \[to play harder\]," insisted Hayes-Davis. "We make great money to play a little bit harder, give a little bit more. It’s more of an effort thing. Once we play with great effort, great intensity, we put ourselves in the game.

"It’s up to us to try to go out there and execute. If the ball goes in, great. But if not, we can rely on rebounding and hustle plays that don’t require talent, just effort."

Jasikevicius echoed that sentiment, admitting that he was very happy with the effort of his players against Real: "This is how we have to win right now. We’ve got to take down our turnover numbers, and we’ve got to fight, especially rebounds. \[We were\] plus eight in these departments; eight possessions more.

"I thought our point guard play was extremely solid, we were going with the ball the majority of the time wherever we wanted, we were fighting, and this is the only thing that we can ask for at this point. Super-solid. We kept our heads in the game, we played exactly what we wanted. Not exactly brilliant, but it’s not easy to be brilliant against Madrid."

'Brilliant' was the perfect word for Nigel Hayes-Davis, and everyone else supported his efforts by doing more than enough to get Fenerbahce back into winning ways.

Hayes-Davis netted 33 points, the second most of any player this season and the second-highest total of his career, in his team’s 70-82 win at Real Madrid after going 6 for 9 on two-pointers, 6 for 10 from three-point land, and 3 for 4 from the free-throw line. Those 6 three-pointers made are a season high for Hayes-Davis and the second-best mark in his career. In his 37:33 minutes on the floor, another season high, he also grabbed 4 rebounds, had 2 steals and drew 2 fouls, which gave him a season-best 30 PIR. This is Hayes-Davis’s fourth MVP of the Round honor, having been the Round 23 MVP in 2022-23, the Round 32 MVP in 2023-24, and the Game 1 MVP in the 2024 EuroLeague Playoffs.

Virtus's Will Clyburn pulled down 12 rebounds in Round 14, the most of any player. Real Madrid center [Walter Tavares](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/walter-tavares/005791/) leads the way in rebounds this season with 8.3 boards per night.

[Tamir Blatt](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tamir-blatt/011193/) of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv dished 10 assists in this round, more than anyone else. Blatt also tops the charts in rebounds with 8.6 dimes per contest.

[Fabien Causeur](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/fabien-causeur/001392/) of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan made 6 steals, which is a season-best mark. Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens center [Mathias Lessort](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/mathias-lessort/003842/) and AS Monaco's [Georgios Papagiannis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/georgios-papagiannis/005844/) each had 3 blocks, the most in this round. Tavares is the leading shot blocker in the league with 1.5 per night.

Paris Basketball improved its winning streak to 10 in a row by beating Olympiacos BC on the road in a thrilling encounter, which showed why Tiago Splitter's side are the team to beat in the EuroLeague at present.

Paris survived in Piraeus to make its biggest statement yet

[Paris Basketball](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/paris-basketball/prs/) keeps making statements in its debut Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season. On Friday night, Paris went into Peace and Friendship Stadium and [knocked down the mighty Olympiacos Piraeus 90-96](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/paris-stuns-olympiacos-in-a-thriller-for-10th-straight-win/) in a fantastic game that, in the fourth quarter, turned into a thrill ride.

It was a game where something had to give, either Olympiacos's 6-0 home record or the nine-game winning streak that Paris carried into the game. When all was said and done, it was Paris that extended its winning streak to 10 games.

"This is another huge win," Paris star guard [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tj-shorts/012608/) said on EuroLeague TV after the game. "To play in an environment like this, the fans that they have, the roster that they have, it is a huge win. Everybody stepped up, big play after big play."

Paris were in cruise control when it extended its lead to 60-80 thanks to a 0-7 run to open the fourth quarter. Olympiacos was without a basket for the opening 3 minutes of the final stanza, and Paris looked to be well on its way to a blowout win on the Reds' court.

However, the proud hosts, carried by a sold-out crowd, needed less than 4 minutes to put together a 22-0 run behind aggressive defense that produced 7 steals and had Olympiacos getting easy fast-break layups one after another.

Suddenly, with 3:11 left in the game, Olympiacos had its first lead, 82-80.

No matter the opponent, let alone a newcomer in the competition, a team on the receiving end of an onslaught like that is not expected to get back out of its slump on one of the toughest floors in all of Europe. But Paris did just that.

"We knew who we were playing against at their home, with their fans pushing," said Paris head coach Tiago Splitter. "Even though we got 20 points up, they got back in the game \[by\] playing very aggressive. We could not get out shots up, turning over the ball."

Thankfully for Paris, there is that famous 'but' in Splitter's explanation.

"But, we managed to finish the game. [Maodo Lo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/maodo-lo/007032/) at the end of the game was huge for us, TJ as always being our captain leading us and hit a huge three at the end. Defensively, everyone was doing a great effort."

[Nadir Hifi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nadir-hifi/012640/) hit a near-impossible triple to snap that 22-0 run and restore Paris's lead, then Shorts drained his only triple of the game. Olympiacos still managed to tie it and then had a possession to take another lead in the final minute, but Paris made a defensive stand that led to Lo's transition triple with 20.5 seconds to go, making it 86-89. And Paris went on to protect its lead.

"For three or four minutes we struggled, but I am proud how we finished the game," Splitter said. "They were very aggressive with TJ and then I brought another guard. And Maodo, he is and experienced guy, he took the shots. And TJ took the shots when he was not pressured as much in those minutes. I am proud of these guys."

"It goes to a testament to a resilience of our locker room," added [Tyson Ward](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyson-ward/012610/), the scorer of 14 points, about those final minutes. "Nobody gave up, nobody doubted the fact that we still have a chance to win this game. A lot of people could be in that situation, and it could go the other way."

The way Paris found a way to get another win when it got so tough at the end is yet more proof this team deserves to be sitting atop the EuroLeague standings. And the side from the French capital earned some unprompted praise from Olympiacos head coach Georgios Bartzokas.

"It was a fantastic game that showed why Paris is first in the standings and has 10 wins in a row," Bartzokas said. "They play with an amazing speed, shooting the ball really well, defending really hard, playing physical, and they deserve to be in the first place."

Considering where and when this victory took place, and how it happened, with just over two months full of statement wins, this is arguably the biggest statement Paris has made of them all.

In a tweet, the Reds wished the 25-year-old a speedy recovery and showed him their support.

"Keep thinking positively and stay strong – you’ll be better before you know it!" read one line from Olympiacos's tweet.

Wright, who last played for the Reds in Round 11 against Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, has made 28 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague since joining Olympiacos in January 2024.

In the 2024-25 season, the American posted 4.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12:53 minutes per night across 11 games.

Things didn’t look very good for [Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/crvena-zvezda-meridianbet-belgrade/red/) when it trailed 75-65 against Virtus Segafredo Bologna in Italy with just 6:38 minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Despite having enjoyed short advantages for the most part of the game, the Serbian side had lost control of the game and the home team seemed poised to end its five-game losing skid.

"You have to play on a high level, you cannot have empty minutes, like we had in a third quarter when we allowed Virtus to go up by 10," recognized Zvezda big man [Luka Mitrovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/luka-mitrovic/002553/), who finished with 21 points and 6 rebounds. "But the good thing is that we didn't lose our head in those moments."

The visitors managed to regroup after a timeout, with Mitrovic being an active part of a play that allowed Zvezda to shift momentum and start its rally. He took advantage of a pass from [Yago dos Santos](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/yago-dos-santos/012044/) to score and get a foul. Even though he couldn’t convert the free throw, [Isaiah Canaan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/isaiah-canaan/010612/) grabbed the offensive rebound and enabled Dos Santos to make another three-point play that brought the Serbian outfit back into the game.

"It was a big rebound, you know, just to give us another chance and that's the area we got to continue to improve, getting rebounds," stated Canaan right after the game. "We tried to do a better job of that tonight. We got the ones that mattered, and we made the shots that mattered."

Many of those shots that mattered for Zvezda came from the hands of Canaan, who finished with 26 points and was the game’s top scorer. He delivered only in the second and the fourth periods, scoring 11 in the second and 15 in the final frame.

He did contribute on offense when the game was on the line, bringing 5 points right after the 5-point play, then he tied it at 80-80 from behind the arc before later feeding [Filip Petrusev](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/filip-petrusev/011194/) in the corner for a three that gave his team the lead for good, 82-83.

"We didn't lose our head in those moments," reaffirmed Mitrovc. "We started to play better defense, and we found good solutions on offense. We found. Isaiah \[Canaan\] – he hit some big, big shots."

Thanks to Canaan’s 15 points in the last period, Zvezda completed a fantastic fourth quarter in which it outscored Virtus 24-37. In fact, 29 of those came in the last 6:38 of the game against Virtus’s 12.

"It was a team victory," celebrated Canaan. "We needed this win. We're going to keep building. Every game is a test for us, and we’ve got to continue to stay together. Tonight was a team victory."

Olimpia Milano is one of the hottest teams in the EuroLeague after reeling off five straight wins, having recovered from a dismal 1-5 start.

[EA7 Emporio Armani Milan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/ea7-emporio-armani-milan/mil/) has gone from being one of the worst teams in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to one of the hottest, yet not even head coach [Ettore Messina](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/ea7-emporio-armani-milan/mil/messina-ettore/) envisaged this great change from his team, with the Italian side [beating LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/milan-beats-asvel-92-84-to-extend-winning-streak-to-five/) on Friday night for a fifth straight win.

Milan fought off ASVEL 92-84 at home to improve to 8-6 with seven victories in the last eight games following a dismal 1-5 start to the season.

"It would be stupid to say that anybody expected that," Messina admitted to EuroLeague TV after the game. "But I saw them coming to practice every day even in the darkest days very seriously. Usually when you work with togetherness and without pointing fingers and you take responsibility, good things happen."

Milan shot a poor 45.2% on two-pointers but still found a way to score at least 91 points for the sixth time in the last eight games. They made 40.0% percent on three-pointers to go with a magnificent 34 of 35 (97.1%) on free throws.

"It’s a very, very important win because we probably didn’t play our best game, but we managed to stay there with the exception of a couple of minutes," Messina added. The game was special for two other reasons for Causeur as the Frenchman’s 9 points saw him join the 2,500-point club. He also improved to a personal 9-0 all-time record against ASVEL.

"It was hard until the end. We knew they are a team that plays with confidence," noted the 37-year-old. "They really gave us problems until the end. Even when we went up by 11, they came back after some stupid turnovers. But, okay, we secured the win in the end and are happy."

“It was a great reaction from our team to show character as all the guys responded the right way,” Spanoulis said in a courtside post-game interview. “We shared the ball well and had 24 assists, which is a great number in the EuroLeague. Today we played great defense and it’s important to work hard on both ends of the floor.”

Olimpia Milano won its fifth straight game in the EuroLeague by beating LDLC ASVEL 92-84 at the Forum on Friday night.

EA7 Emporio Armani Milan completed a perfect double-round week with a 92-84 home victory over LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne to extend its winning streak to five games. Milan gained control of the game with a 16-5 run spanning the final two quarters for its first 10-point lead to improve to 8-6 with seven wins in the last eight games. The Italians also are 6-2 at home, including five straight victories at Unipol Forum.

Zach LeDay and Nikola Mirotic both scored 17 points, Armoni Brooks had 14 points, Nico Mannion tallied 11 points and 4 assists, and Fabien Causeur chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 steals. ASVEL saw its modest two-game winning streak snapped and fell to 5-9 with a 0-7 road record. Theo Maledon scored 24 points and Joffrey Lauvergne had 19 points in the loss.

Milan’s offense could not get going at all early, with just two free throws in the first 4 minutes, while four different ASVEL scorers had baskets in a 2-8 lead before Mirotic scored the hosts' first basket. Milan buried two triples and cut the gap to 10-12, only to see Maledon convert a three-point play and Melvin Ajinca hit a three-pointer to make it 12-18. Two LeDay baskets knotted the game 18-18 and ASVEL was up 18-20 after the first quarter. 

Lauvergne took over in the second quarter with two lefty hooks, a floater and three-pointer to help ASVEL jump ahead 24-29. Milan would not let the guests get away, twice making it a one-point game before finally taking its first lead on two Causeur free throws for 34-33. LeDay added a three-pointer as Milan was up 37-33. And Milan led 41-36 at the break. 

A Causeur three-pointer increased the margin to 8 points at 46-38. ASVEL scored 3 points on three consecutive possessions to stick close and Maledon made it 53-51. Two Milan veterans made milestone baskets, with Causeur hitting 2,500 points and Shavon Shields reaching 2,000 points for a 58-51 lead. ASVEL punched back with a 0-8 run to reclaim the lead 58-59. Brooks answered with a three-pointer and Milan was up 63-61 after 30 minutes. 

Brooks scored 4 more points as Milan opened the gap to 69-61 while ASVEL needed almost 3 minutes to score. Mirotic added a triple and Milan increased the advantage to double figures, 74-64, with under 7 minutes to play. After the cushion swelled to 11 points, ASVEL was not ready to hand over the game, especially Maledon, who scored 9 points to make it 85-82 with 89 seconds left. But Mannion drained a high-arching fadeaway baseline jumper as the dagger answer with 37 seconds to go.

In a roller-coaster game that went down to the wire, Paris Basketball came up with yet another shocker, beating Olympiacos BC 90-96 on Friday night at a sold-out Peace and Friendship Stadium.

In a roller-coaster game that went down to the wire, Paris Basketball came up with yet another shocker, beating Olympiacos Piraeus 90-96 on Friday night at a sold-out Peace and Friendship Stadium. It is a 10th consecutive win for Paris, which improved to a league-best 11-3 record, while Olympiacos dropped to 9-5 on the season after suffering its first home defeat.

Paris controlled the game from the get-go, then pulled away late in the third and in the fourth quarter, opening a 60-80 lead, only for Olympiacos to respond with a majestic 22-0 run. But Nadir Hifi, TJ Shorts and Maodo Lo hit a three-pointer apiece to secure another win for the league leaders. Shorts led the winners with 21 points and 8 assists, Hifi had 20 points and Tyson Ward scored 14. Evan Fournier paced Olympiacos with 25 points, Sasha Vezenkov netted 18, Nigel Williams-Goss had 12 and Shaquielle McKissic finished with 10 points in a losing effort.

Kevarrius Hayes and Shorts set the tone in the early going, before back-to-back triples from Hifi and Bandja Sy opened 5-13 lead. Fournier and Vezenkov got Olympiacos back on track, with Fournier's four-point play capping an 8-0 run to tie the game. The two teams traded buckets in the remainer of the first quarter, and the score was tied at 21-21 after 10 minutes.

Shorts was the engine for Paris at the start of the second, scoring 5 points to make it 23-30. Williams-Goss had a pair of baskets at the rim, and Luca Vildoza knocked down a second-chance triple to help make it a 1-point game, 31-32. A basket from McKissic and a triple from Tyler Dorsey tied the score at 36-36, but Lo answered with a triple that started a strong finish to the quarter from Paris. Ward hit a three-pointer and Yakuba Ouattara took it to the rim to open an 8-point lead before Thomas Walkup finished the half with a three-pointer to ensure it was 44-49 at the interval.

Paris continued its charge in the third quarter, with Ouattara, Shorts, Hayes and Ward all scoring layups to open the visitors' first double-digit lead of the night, 47-57. A triple from Collin Malcolm, then a second-chance three from Hifi opened a 49-65 margin after 5 minutes in the third quarter. Nikola Milutinov's presence in the paint and some trademark energy from McKissic gave a spark to Olympiacos, which scored the next 5 points, but Shorts took one to the rim past Milutinov and Ouattara knocked down a corner three to help make it 60-73 after 30 minutes.

Ward's triple and the easiest of layups set up by Shorts opened 60-78 with 7:41 to play. A layup from Hayes increased the margin to 20 points. Olympiacos needed more than 3 minutes to score in the fourth, a triple from Fournier, but that sparked a 22-0 run behind some incredible defense by Olympiacos. It was a run in which Fournier and Williams-Goss had the first 15 points, then Peters hit a transition triple and Vildoza a fast-break layup to tie it at 80-80. Free throws from Williams-Goss gave Olympiacos its only lead with 3:11 to go. Hifi snapped the run with a tough three-pointer, and Shorts followed it up with a triple of his own, 82-86. Olympiacos tied it after a layup from Williams-Goss going into the final minute, and the Reds had another possession, but Paris made a defensive stand and Lo hit a transition triple with 20 seconds to go to open an 86-89 margin, giving Paris a lead it never relinquished. Fournier hit a three-pointer (90-91), but Mikael Jantunen and Lo sealed the deal.

Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade escaped with a valuable 87-94 victory at Virtus Segafredo Bologna in a game in which it needed to erase a 10-point deficit in the last quarter. The hosts dominated 75-65 with 6:38 minutes remaining, but a five-point play at that moment and an offensive demonstration led by Isaiah Canaan allowed Zvezda to come back and take advantage of Virtus’s nerves.

With this win, the visitors improved to 7-7 whereas Virtus – with new head coach Dusko Ivanovic having to watch on from a courtside seat while interim boss Nenad Jakovljevic took charge – remains at the bottom of the standings with a 2-12 mark and six defeats in a row.

Canaan was the game's top scorer with 26 points on 4-of-9 shooting from long range, while Luka Mitrovic and Filip Petrusev complemented him from inside. Mitrovic posted 21 points and 8 rebounds, with Petrusev recording 21 points and 6 boards. Toko Shengelia paced Virtus with 25 points, while Will Clyburn recorded a double-double of 19 points and 12 boards for a PIR of 38. Isaia Cordinier and Ante Zizic were also in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The game featured a nice battle between Zizic and Petrusev, who challenged each other in the early going to lead both sides. Clyburn joined the Croatian center and provided a triple, a bucket and two free throws to help Virtus earn a 13-11 advantage before the first timeout took place, as the visitors just found Kalinic to accompany Petrusev. Mitrovic ended a two-minute scoring drought with a slam to tie it, but Cordinier and two consecutive strong moves by Momo Diouf inside gave the hosts a slim lead, 19-13. The visitors didn’t step back, though, as Mitrovic scored inside, and Codi Miller-McIntyre beat the buzzer with a triple that finished the first period with Virtus up 19-18.

The run continued early in the second, with Rokas Giedraitis completing the rally and boosting Zvezda to a 19-23 lead from the free-throw line. The home team needed two minutes to score its first basket through Zizic, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the visitors, as Mitrovic showed up with 9 points in a row to make it 24-32 after 15 minutes. The hosts leaned on their veterans to try to prevent Zvezda from pulling away, with Cordinier coming to the scene to help Shengelia and Clyburn, while the guests found Canaan to keep their momentum going. Two free throws by Clyburn made it a one-possession game, 38-40, but Canaan answered from the same place and Petrusev closed the first half with a dunk to maintain Zvezda's advantage, 38-44.

Dobric made it an eight-point lead again right after the game resumed, with Shengelia giving his best to support Virtus on the other end. Zizic joined him later with consecutive inside buckets to prevent Zvezda from escaping, as the score remained in favor of the visitors, 46-52, midway through the third period. Clyburn converted from two right before a TV timeout, which turned into the start of a perfect storm for Virtus. Cordinier scored twice from the line and later added a triple, as Clyburn and Shengelia made the most of an unsportsmanlike foul by Milos Teodosic that completed a 13-0 run to turn the tables, 59-52, allowing Virtus to enter the last stanza leading 63-57.

Dejan Davidovac completed a three-point play and Canaan showed up again early in the fourth period to bring Zvezda within 65-63, but Virtus’s mood didn’t change. Marco Belinelli and Shengelia imitated Davidovac and provided 6 points on two plays to recover a safe margin, while Alessandro Pajola joined later with 4 points in a row to make it a double-digit lead for the first time in the game, 75-65, with less than 7 minutes remaining. The hosts didn’t tremble, though, and used a five-point play to flip the momentum, then gave the keys to Canaan, who scored 7 points and fed Petrusev for a triple that brought the lead back to the Serbian side, 82-83. Even though Shengelia made it all square twice, nerves got the best of Virtus. Kalinic drilled a long three to make it 85-88 with 1:28 to play, then Petrusev added two from the line and Canaan took the reins again to cap a 0-7 spark that definitely put Virtus to bed entering the last minute.
