### Real Madrid finally wins on the road

It has been a rough start to the season for Real Madrid, losing all four of its road games so far. Its last road loss was an extremely bitter pill to swallow as it had a six-point lead over Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in the penultimate minute and ended up losing at the buzzer to a game-winning shot by Saben Lee. All those road struggles should end for Real this week in what will be a special game to celebrate Sergio Rodriguez, a legend of both clubs. [Facu Campazzo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/facundo-campazzo/005928/) is primed to make the difference at point guard and even though Milan has some people who worked for *Los Blancos* in [Fabien Causeur](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/fabien-causeur/001392/), [Nikola Mirotic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nikola-mirotic/000796/) and Ettore Messina, Real is set to take advantage of [Josh Nebo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/josh-nebo/011199/)'s absence and look for [Walter Tavares](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/walter-tavares/005791/) down low. It looks like a good matchup for Real, despite playing a good team on a very difficult court. My take is that Campazzo will achieve MVP of the Round honors and Real gets the win at Unipol Forum.

### Bayern to keep on rolling at SAP Garden

FC Bayern Munich couldn't have imagined a better start to life at SAP Garden. Gordie Herbert's men are 3-0 so far at its brand-new arena, with Real Madrid, Paris Basketball and Olympiacos Piraeus all having been defeated, and now league-leading Zalgiris Kaunas is coming to town. On Thursday night, I think Bayern will notch its fifth straight victory, having followed up successive triumphs over Paris and Olympiacos by winning back-to-back road games last week. [Carsen Edwards](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/carsen-edwards/011987/) and [Shabazz Napier](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shabazz-napier/011224/) have proven themselves to be one of the best backcourts in the EuroLeague, and big men [Devin Booker](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/devin-booker/007056/) and [Johannes Voigtmann](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/johannes-voigtmann/007201/) are making their presence felt on a night in, night out basis. I also think [Nick Weiler-Babb](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nick-weiler-babb/010391/) will have another good game and shut down Zalgiris's threats, spoiling the return of [Sylvain Francisco](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sylvain-francisco/007975/) and coach Andrea Trinchieri to Munich. My prediction: Bayern's three-point shooting will see it win by double digits.

### The Reds will celebrate in a tight Greek derby

The Greek derby is upon us, and it could hardly come at a better moment. Reigning champ Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens comes into this clash on a four-game winning streak, while Olympiacos Piraeus downed Real Madrid and FC Barcelona in a matter of 48 hours last week, both by a double-digit margin. The two Greek giants have played twice domestically this season and split victories. In the last one, Panathinaikos won in Piraeus a fortnight ago. Believing this will be an emotional and a tight contest would not be too bold, but I say that the Greek derby will be so tight that it will be decided by 3 points or fewer – and might even go to overtime. I believe Olympiacos will pull out a statement win at OAKA.

### Maccabi makes it two in a row

Winless to date on the road, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will finally taste victory this week in Bologna. The Israeli champs are slowly regaining some depth. After [Rokas Jokubaitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/rokas-jokubaitis/007519/) returned to action last week and had his best game yet with the club with 17 points and 7 assists against Real Madrid on Thursday, big man [Wenyen Gabriel](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/wenyen-gabriel/013383/) played his first game of the season in the Israeli League on Sunday. Add to them guard [David DeJulius](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/david-de-julius/013250/), who on Monday signed for Maccabi from BKT EuroCup side Aris Midea Thessaloniki, and you have the team's deepest rotation yet this season. Euroleague Basketball Official Report on Round 7 Game: Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem vs. Umana Reyer Venice

Following the conclusion of the BKT EuroCup Round 7 game between Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Umana Reyer Venice, the Unified Scorers Crew (USC) operators mistakenly deleted a valid 2-point basket scored by a Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem player, Khadeen Carrington with 4:17 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. This error led to an incorrect final score of 92-66 being published on the official boxscore.

Upon identifying the mistake, the correct final result of 94-66 and individual stats of Khadeen Carrington were uploaded to the official BKT EuroCup website. This error occurred after the game had ended, during a review of the boxscore by the USC, and had no impact on the game's outcome.

It was not pretty, but [Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/wolves-twinsbet-vilnius/roster/wol/) did everything it needed to do to beat [Dreamland Gran Canaria](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/dreamland-gran-canaria/roster/can/) [66-68](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/wolves-conquers-gran-canaria-arena-66-68/) in Round 7. 

Indeed, it was the Wolves' third-lowest score ever in a EuroCup road game and its worse mark by far this season. The Wolves had scored 84 points or more in all three games outside the Lithuanian capital until now. What happened?

Gran Canaria was limited to 66 points for the second time in a home game this season: it previously beat [Bahcesehir College Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/bahcesehir-college-istanbul/roster/bah/?season=2024-25) [66-63 in Round 3](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/gran-canaria-survives-drama-edges-bahcesehir-66-63/). Before that, Gran Canaria had not scored 66 points or less in a home loss since the 2020-21 Top 16, when MoraBanc Andorra grabbed a [63-66 victory](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/game-center/2020-21/herbalife-gran-canaria-morabanc-andorra/U2020/144/) at Gran Canaria Arena.

Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius Kristupas Zemaitis had 13 points against Dreamland Gran Canaria.

Zemaitis led Wolves' big road win

Three-pointers and rebounds made the difference in the game. Gran Canaria buried just 5 of 26 shots from beyond the arc. Its 19.2% three-point shooting percentage was the worst since that 63-66 loss against Andorra on January 27, 2021. That night, Gran Canaria hit just 3 of 31 shots from downtown (9.7% 3FG). The Wolves were not brilliant from downtown but did much better, hitting 9 of 28 three-pointers (32.1%).

The Wolves outrebounded Gran Canaria 35-48 and dominated at both ends. Gran Canaria was limited to just 6 offensive rebounds while the Wolves pulled down 27 defensive board. In other words, the visitors pulled down 81.8% of all rebounds under their rim. Things were very different at the other side of the court. The Wolves grabbed 21 offensive rebounds. Gran Canaria took 29 defensive boards, just 58% of the 50 rebounds under its basket.

"It was an ugly game for the fans, for us players also, we needed to suffer. Sometimes you need to suffer in games like this," [Kristupas Zemaitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/kristupas-zemaitis/005516/) said after the game, "And because of our great energy, especially in the end with those offensive rebounds by Reggie \[[Regimantas Miniotas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/regimantas-miniotas/004645/)\], by [Brooks](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/garrison-brooks/012789/), we survived this game, so I am very happy about that."

Zemaitis led the winners with 13 points. Gran Canaria had a much higher team PIR, 82, but the Wolves managed to get the victory with a PIR of 66.

"I think the desire we had \[was the key\]," Wolves head coach Alessandro Magro said. "I am really happy because this is a big win against such a good team on the road, and everybody in the team put his brick to build our wall. I am really happy for the team, for the guys. We had a lot of mistakes but fixed them. This kind of win has to give us a lot of confidence."

There was not much doubt at Kalnapilio Arena where 7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys dismissed the visiting Veolia Hamburg Towers 91-68. A facilitator of many good things in this victory was a veteran center Andrija Stipanovic who scored 11 points, dished a career-high 7 assists, and pulled down 6 rebounds.

The key to the [91-68 victory](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/lietkabelis-runs-past-hamburg-91-68/) was the second quarter in which Lietkabelis turned a 24-21 lead after 10 minutes into a 48-30 halftime advantage. Hamburg never came closer than 15 points the rest of the way and was down by 20 or more for large portion of the second half.

In that second quarter, the hosts shot 4-of-10 from range, while holding the visitors to 0-for-7 three-point shooting and forcing 5 turnovers. Lietkabelis also outrebounded Hamburg 13-7 in that quarter.

A facilitator of many good things in this victory was veteran center [Andrija Stipanovic ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/andrija-stipanovic/005113/)who scored 11 points, dished a career-high 7 assists, and pulled down 6 rebounds.

"The first thing we needed to do is respond to Hamburg's physicality, and I think we did that," Stipanovic assessed after the game. "We played good basketball, we scored a lot of threes."

That ball movement is something Stipanovic had a lot to do with and was why Lietkabelis had many open looks.

"It is a nice number, 7 assists", Stipanovic said with big smile on his ace. "\[The guys\] scored three-pointers this time."

His coach was a little more serious and did not hold back on praising his veteran center.

"Sometimes, the numbers say enough", head coach Nenad Canak said to EuroLeague TV. "He was our second point guard, but that is not a surprise. He is playing like that his whole career."

Stipanovic, who was a late Lietkabelis signing, is posting 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists in four appearances. And Lietkabelis, which opened the season with four straight losses, is suddenly 2-4 and determined to continue it climb up the Group B standings.

"We played good defense with intensity, but it is much easier when you make some shots, which we did not do this season until now. This game showed the way we can play," Canak said.

The veteran big man dished a career-high 7 assists.

The Wolves improved to 4-3 in the standings while Gran Canaria dropped to 5-2. Kristupas Zemaitis led the winners with 13 points. Anthony Cowan added 10 for the Wolves. John Shurna led Gran Canaria with 12 points, Andrew Albicy added 11 and Joe Thomasson 10. 

Wolves conquers Gran Canaria Arena, 66-68! 

The Wolves improved to 4-3 in the standings after scoring a 66-68 road win over Dreamland Gran Canaria on Wednesday. Gran Canaria dropped to 5-2. 

Kristupas Zemaitis led the winners with 13 points. Anthony Cowan added 10 for the Wolves. John Shurna led Gran Canaria with 12 points, Andrew Albicy added 11 and Joe Thomasson 10. 

Zemaitis got the Wolves going with a dunk that Jeffery Taylor followed with a driving layup for a 0-4 lead. Albicy stepped up for Gran Canaria, getting help from Shurna to keep the hosts within 4-6. Shurna followed a running jumper with a backdoor basket that gave Gran Canaria its first lead, 8-6. Garrison Brooks rescued the Wolves with a put-back layup that Pierre Pelos matched with a turnaround jumper. Andrew Andrews brought his team within 11-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Pelos sank another turnaround jumper early in the second quarter. Maias Jogela and George Conditt traded layups, then Tre'Shawn Thurman struck from downtown to tie it at 15-15. Andrews buried a triple off the dribble which Marek Blazevic followed with a jump hook to keep the Wolves in charge, 17-20. Thurman insisted from beyond the arc and Blazevic's dunk saw Gran Canaria call timeout at 17-25. Nico Brussino sank a three-pointer, Albicy added a reverse layup and Caleb Homesley's fastbreak basket got Gran Canaria within 24-25. Thurman hit a jump hook and Cowan followed a driving layup with a triple but Albicy and Mike Tobey got the hosts within 30-32 at halftime.

Regimantas Miniotas hit a corner three-pointer soon after the break. Thomasson answered with a driving layup that Blazevic matched with a jump hook. Mike Tobey scored in the low post and got help from Albicy to give Gran Canaria a 38-37 edge. Zemaitis rescued the Wolves with consecutive three-pointers to give his team a 42-43 edge. Conditt took over with a reverse layup and then Zemaitis followed his fourth triple with a driving basket for a 44-48 score after 30 minutes.

Jogela silenced the crowd with an alley-oop dunk early in the fourth quarter. Thomasson scored in penetration and added a three-pointer in a 9-1 run that Shurna capped with a mid-range jumper that made Gran Canaria regain a 53-51 lead. After Alocen made free throws, Andrews answered from beyond the arc. Then Conditt scored down low for a 57-54 Gran Canaria lead. Miniotas finished a three-chance Wolves offense with a layup and Cowan put the Wolves ahead, 57-59. Brooks soon made it a four-point game in the next-to-last minute. Pelos scored around the basket and Homesley's backdoor layup tied it at 62-62. Brooks kept pacing the Wolves with an off-balance basket, Andrews split free throws and so did Albicy with 12.5 seconds left. Cowan hit free throws, Thomasson buried a triple and Jogela gave Wolves a 66-68 lead with 3.6 seconds remaining. Albicy turned the ball over on his team's final possession.

It was the fourth win in a row for Wolves

Buducnost registered a season-high in points in a 105-100 victory over ratiopharm Ulm to snap a two-game losing streak and move to 3-4 - just outside the playoff spots in Group A. 

Offense carried the load for Buducnost in crucial victory

Buducnost registered a season-high in points in a [105-100 victory](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/buducnost-wins-overtime-thriller-over-ulm-on-ferrells-three-pointer/) over [ratiopharm Ulm](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/ratiopharm-ulm/roster/ulm/?season=2024-25) to snap a two-game losing streak and move to 3-4 - just outside the playoff spots in Group A. 

“There was a lot of pressure. It was a must-win game,” said Buducnost coach Andrej Zakelj. “We were nervous and really didn’t play good defense. We were too soft. But in the end we won. It was a tough game. Not easy with the pressure on the players. But we have to deal with this and all that matters is we get the win.”

Among the six Buducnost scorers in double figures was [Fletcher Magee](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/fletcher-magee/012630/) with 23 points, [McKinley Wright](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/mckinley-wright-iv/012606/) 18 points and [Yogi Ferrell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/yogi-ferrell/011281/) with 17 points, including the game-winning triple with 10 seconds left in the game. 

“It was a very important win for us. We showed good character and we knew before the game that it would be tough,” said [Kenan Kamenjas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/kenan-kamenjas/008325/), who chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. 

Buducnost had only been averaging 81.0 points per game, ranked 12th in the EuroCup. Zakelj’s team shot 66.7% on two-pointers and 50.0% (10/20) on three-pointers. The Montenegrin team was much better shooting the ball, coming into the game ranked 12th inside the arc at 52.3% and 11th from long range at 34.7%.

But Buducnost also took advantage of Ulm’s generous defense. The German side has given up 100+ points in its last three road games. The team ranks last in scoring defense at 94.3 points allowed per game, and Coach Ty Harrelson’s side ranked 19th in both 58.1% on two-pointers and 40.6% on three-pointers. All three of those numbers are only going to get worse ahead of Round 8.

Fletcher Magee led the way with 23 points

Turk Telekom Ankara snapped a three-game skid and improved to 4-3 in Group B with an emphatic 99-80 home win over U-BT Cluj-Napoca, thanks to a blistering performance from Anthony Brown who posted a career high 39 points to go with 7 assists and 4 boards. Braian Angola racked up 21 points and 8 rebounds while Yoan Makoundou added 18 points for Turk Telekom. Zavier Simpson shined with 22 points, 9 assists and 6 boards and Zach Hankins chipped in with 20 points for Cluj, which slipped to 3-4 record.

Buducnost wasted a 13-point fourth-quarter lead as the game went to overtime where Yogi Ferrell knocked down the game-winning three-pointer with 10 seconds to go. Buducnost improved to 3-4 in Group A and also ended its four-game losing skid against Ulm with its last win over the German side dating back to October 20, 2021. Fletcher Magee was Buducnost’s leading scorer with 23 points.  Justinian Jessup scored 25 points for Ulm, which fell to 4-3 with its third loss in the last four games - all of the defeats coming on the road and all of them conceding more than 100 points.

Jonah Mathews led the charge with a game-high 21 points and Yigit Arslan added 19 for the visitors, who found an extra gear in the last few minutes to break Sopot down after leading for the lion’s share of the contest. Trefl, which is still winless as the Polish outfit dropped to 0-7, was paced by Andy van Vleet who had 15 points.

Buducnost VOLI Podgorica snapped a two-game losing streak by knocking off ratiopharm Ulm 105-100 in an overtime thriller at home. Buducnost wasted a 13-point fourth-quarter lead as the game went to overtime where Yogi Ferrell knocked down the game-winning three-pointer with 10 seconds to go.

Buducnost improved to 3-4 in Group A and also ended its four-game losing skid against Ulm with its last win over the German side dating back to October 20, 2021. Fletcher Magee was Buducnost’s leading scorer with 23 points while McKinley Wright collected 18 points, Ferrell finished with 17 and Kenan Kemanjas chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds.

Ulm fell to 4-3 with its third loss in the last four games - all of the defeats coming on the road and all of them conceding more than 100 points. Justinian Jessup scored 25 points, Noa Essengue had 21 and Philipp Herkenhoff tallied 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. 

Ulm jumped ahead 2-5 in the opening minute but watched as the hosts picked up their game pretty quickly with Kamenjas converting a three-point play and Wright hitting a triple in a 14-5 spurt to lead 16-10. After Ulm charged back to knot the game 19-19, Magee converted a three-point play and drained a triple to give Buducnost a 25-22 lead following 10 minutes of action.

Baskets by Tobias Jensen helped Ulm get within 29-28. Ferrell answered with 4 points at the other end and it was 36-28. Ulm knocked down 5 three-pointers in the final 5 minutes of the first half and tied it again 42-42. But it was Buducnost that led at the break 44-42.

Buducnost had the better start to th second half and led 51-45. Ulm continued to use its outside shooting with 3 three-pointers in a 2-12 run to pull ahead 53-57. And it was 58-62 when Buducnost shot down the Ulm offense for the final 3:17 minutes for a 12-0 run and the home side was ahead 70-62 after 30 minutes.

After hitting a triple at the buzzer of the third quarter, Ferrell started the final frame with a three-pointer as well in pushing the advantage to 73-62. Essengue ended Ulm’s 4:40-minute scoreless stretch. The score was 80-67 and Ferrell added another basket to give the hosts an 82-70 lead with just more than 6 minutes to go. Ferrell was called for a technical on the play though and that started a 2-15 run for Ulm that included 6 points from Essengue and a triple from Isaiah Roby to reclaim the lead 84-85 with 105 seconds left. After Rasheed Suliamon’s long jumper, Jessup drained a step-back three-pointer to make it 86-88. Kemanjas scored with 17 seconds left to tie the game but missed the bonus free throw. Ulm had the final chance to win the game but Jallow’s three-pointer at the buzzer was off target, sending the game to overtime.

The extra period had a number of big baskets with Magee draining a triple and Jessup hitting a three at the other end to tie it again 95-95. Nikola Tanaskovic made it 97-96 before Suliamon fouled out on an unsportsmanlike foul, which resulted in Roby free throws and a Alfonso Plummer triple for a 97-100 Ulm lead. Magee tied the game yet again from deep and then Ferrell delivered the game-winning triple with 10 seconds left.

The winners improved to 2-2 at home this season

No Jared Harper was no problem for Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem against Umana Reyer Venice as guards, Khadeen Carrington, Noam Dovrat and Or Cornelius, come to the fore.

After being named Round 6 MVP, Harper was one of the five Jerusalem players to miss out on Wednesday’s duel along with [Nimrod Levi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/nimrod-levi/007768/), [Austin Wiley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/austin-wiley/013278/), [Justin Smith](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/justin-smith/013276/) and [Kenneth Smith](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/kenneth-smith/010587/). Yet, no Harper, no problem for the Israeli side that saw three other guards, [Khadeen Carrington](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/khadeen-carrington/008912/), [Noam Dovrat](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/noam-dovrat/009879/) and [Or Cornelius](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/or-cornelius/013281/), come to the fore to claim a [94-66 victory over Reyer](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/depleted-jerusalem-blows-past-undermanned-reyer-94-66/). 

Two of the aforementioned players recorded career-highs in scoring, with Dovrat ending the game with 17 points and Cornelius adding 14. In fact, the two men combined for 31 points after having netted just 13 in total in the first six rounds. Dovrat also bagged 5 rebounds and 4 assists, while Cornelius had 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 fouls drawn.

“I told the guys in the locker room before the game that there was too much talking about the guys who are not here,” Jerusalem head coach Yonatan Alon said after the game. “But I want to focus on the guys who are here, because they have a lot in them, more than what we saw. And they need to push each other. They did it and they were amazing.”

Carrington chipped in with 16 points, but the player who produced the most complete performance for the hosts was [Jeremy Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jeremy-morgan/010431/). The Jerusalem forward ended the game with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 6 fouls drawn for a season-high PIR of 27.

“It was a good team effort,” Morgan noted. “We needed everybody tonight. We were a little short on players and that just shows everybody’s true character in this team and the way we want to play.”

Despite missing those players, Jerusalem pulled off its finest outing at Samokov Arena this season to ruin opposition head coach Neven Spahija’s 62nd birthday by recording its second home victory.

A closely fought first half featured five lead changes before Valencia took a 33-35 lead into the break. Valencia led for most of the second half but Aris never gave up, and the outcome was only settled in the final minute.

Semi Ojeleye paced Valencia with a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Xabi Lopez-Arostegui added 10 points. Joshua Roberts also bagged a double-double for Aris with 10 points and 12 boards, while Trey Woodbury netted 19 points and Vassilis Toliopoulos added 18.

Ojeleye’s dunk opened the scoring but Woodbury netted twice and Toliopoulos struck from long-range to give Aris its first lead, 7-4. Ojeleye replied with a pair of triples, but Nathan Laszewski’s strong dunk tied it up, 10-10. Lopez-Arostegui also hit a three for Valencia, but Leftheris Bochoridis kept it close with a couple of inside scores and Roberts also scored at the rim to make it 16-15. D’Moi Hodge added a three-pointer before Valencia's free throws ended the first quarter tied up, 19-19.

Jaime Pradilla’s coast-to-coast layup started the second quarter scoring, but Toliopoulos replied with two transition buckets during a low-scoring phase of action. Lopez-Arogtegui forced another tie, 23-23, before Roberts made a tough layup and one and Ojeleye hit back with his third triple. Lopez-Arostegui scored twice and Josep Puerto hit a triple as Valencia enjoyed a 3-12 run for a 29-35 lead, but a layup by Toliopoulos pulled it back to 33-35 at the half.

Pradilla converted a delicious feed from Jean Montero early in the third, but Toliopoulos and Woodbury tied it up, 37-37. Nate Reuvers hit a jumper and Matt Costello scored at the rim, but free throws kept Aris close, 39-41, midway through the third. Nate Sestina, Toliopoulos and Brancou Badio all hit from deep, before Woodbury’s tough conversion at the rim and Reuvers’ tip-in made it 44-52 with ten minutes left.

Another putback from Reuvers made it a double-digit lead at the start of the fourth, before close-range scores from Roberts and Woodbury – with three buckets in a row – pulled Aris back, 52-54. Ojeleye’s free throws settled Valencia, but Woodbury hit from deep as both offenses otherwise misfired. It was 55-57 with two minutes left, and Toliopoulos briefly tied it up with a floater before Montero made a long two. Montero then added a layup, and Woodbury’s final score wasn’t enough.

Turk Telekom Ankara produced a rip-roaring performance in a 99-80 home win over U-BT Cluj-Napoca in the BKT EuroCup, as forward Anthony Brown served up a stellar display garnished by a career-high 39 points and a PIR of 45.

Brown, who averages 19 points and 6 rebounds per game, started out shooting 8-of-8 from deep which had never been done before in the competition, finishing on 8 of 10 as he also broke into the top 10 on the all-time scoring charts for a single game.

In addition, Brown dished out 7 assists and picked up 4 rebounds. He had apt and able helpers in [Braian Angola](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/braian-angola/010465/), who racked up 21 points, 8 boards and 6 assists, as well as [Yoan Makoundou](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/yoan-makoundou/011935/) who chipped in with 18 points.

Having lost the first quarter 22-30, Turk Telekom closed shop in the other three to stifle Cluj’s offense while Brown fired on all cylinders on offense, with the hosts finishing on 14 of 25 from downtown and containing the visitors to just 5 of 24.

Brown was somewhat stunned by his own performance after several patchy displays in the opening rounds.

“I am happy we got the win and I don’t know how to feel right now,” he said in a post-game interview. “I haven’t been shooting good in the EuroCup the first five or six games and I knew I was due a big night. I was being aggressive and played free because the coach gave me a lot of confidence.”

Head coach Emre Can was able to breathe a sigh of relief after seeing his team snap a three-game losing streak in the most emphatic fashion.

“We were not aggressive enough in the first quarter, which is why we conceded 30 points,” said Can. “But we were good once we became aggressive and started running up and down the floor, which is what we need to translate on to the upcoming games. It’s a long season and we need to keep that mentality every single day.”

A flowing team performance by Turk Telekom engineered a whopping 23 assists and 34 rebounds, while an ironclad defense generated 7 steals as it also forced 14 turnovers from Cluj.
