Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz bolstered its backcourt with the signing of playmaker Markquis Nowell, the club announced Sunday.
Nowell (1.73 meters, 25 years old) joins from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, where he posted averages of 16.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 2.0 steals across 50 G League games last season. He played collegiate basketball at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Kansas State University, famously setting the NCAA Tournament single-game assist record with 19 dimes against Michigan State.
Nowell began his professional career with the Toronto Raptors and also suited up for Raptors 905 in Mississauga before moving to Rio Grande. He is now poised to make his EuroLeague debut with Baskonia.
