Bayern adds scorer Xavier Rathan-Mayes

FC Bayern Munich picked up some scoring punch by signing Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who made his EuroLeague debut last season with Real Madrid. He signed a one-year deal with an option for another season.
Rathan-Mayes (1.91 meters, 31 years old) appeared in 23 EuroLeague games – including 5 starts – for Los Blancos last season and averaged 5.3 points and 1.4 assists. The Canadian guard helped Real Madrid make the EuroLeague Playoffs and win the Spanish League.
His springboard into the EuroLeague came from a fantastic 2023-24 campaign with Russian side Enisey, with which he led the VTB United League in scoring with 25.4 points per game. He also ranked 10th with 4.5 assists per game and contributed 1.1 steals over 39 appearances.
After playing college basketball at Florida State University, Rathan-Mayes has traveled the world as a professional. In addition to a stint in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies, he has also played in Greece (AEK Athens), Israel (Bnei Herzliya), Canada (Hamilton Honey Badgers and Scarborough Shooting Stars), Romania (CSU Sibiu), Turkiye (Yukatel Merkezefendi), Australia (Illawarra Hawks and Melbourne United), Russia (Enisey) and Spain (Real Madrid).
"I have been following what has been happening in Munich over the past year or two, and now I really want to be a part of it. I have also been in close contact with Coach Herbert recently, so the move to Bayern was a no-brainer for me," Rathan-Mayes said after the agreement. "I haven't had an easy year, and I want to prove that I am a high-level player, one who is there on both sides of the court, as a dynamic playmaking guard who scores and passes, but also as a tough defender."
