Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv has promoted Oren Sahar and Tamir Gold to its first team. The promising players have come up through the club’s youth academy and now will test themselves at the top level under Coach Oded Kattash.
Sahar (1.94 meters, 18 years old) is a talented and daring guard known for his shooting ability and energy. He spent last season with Maccabi Tel Aviv Shoham in the Israeli third division. Sahar started for Israel over the summer at the U19 World Championship, where ranked sixth with 17.7 points per game. His older brother Dori Sahar played for Maccabi during the 2020-21 season. Oren will wear jersey #7.
Gold (2.04 meters, 18 years old) is a long, athletic forward. Last season he averaged 13.2 points on 61% two-point shooting and 43.8% three-point shooting plus 6.2 rebounds in the Israeli youth league. He also played a key role in Maccabi winning the State Cup for juniors. Gold also played for Israel at the U19 World Championship and posted 7.7 points on 50% shooting from three-point range. He is the son of Shiri Gold, a former Israeli national team player and the current director of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s girls and women’s division. Gold will wear jersey #13.
