Preseason results: Milan rolls, Fenerbahce survives in last shot

In Desio, Italy, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan thrashed Varese 100-73 during the Lombardy Tropohy. Brandon Davies and DeShaun Thomas led the winners with 21 points apiece, Billy Baron had 16, Davide Alviti 15 and Naz Mitrou-Long 11. Milan started with a 16-0 and never looked back. The winners had a high-paced game and missed Kevin Pangos, with hand problems. However, Milan blasted 31 points in the second quarter to make it 56-29 at the break. The difference increased to 35 points in the third period and Milan cruised to the final win.
Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul advanced to the final of the 22nd Cevat Soydas Tournament on Thursday by defeating Gaziantep Basketbol, 88-86. With five seconds left in the game and the score tied at 86-86, the ball was for Dyshawn Pierre, who dribbled and made his way to the basket for the winning layup on the buzzer. The game was close throughout the 40 minutes, as Gaziantep was ahead by two points after 10 minutes that went to 35-39 at the break after a three on the buzzer by Conner Frankamp. A clean three by Scottie Wilbekin put Fenerbahce ahead, 48-46, but the lead kept changing sides until the very last play of the game. Carsen Edwards led the winners with 23 points, Wilbekin had 21 and Pierre posted 16, including the winning bucket at the end.
Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz fell to UCAM Murcia, 69-88, in a friendly game played in Les Borges Blanques, Spain. Baskonia held tight in the first period, but Murcia seemed to be always one step ahead from midway the second quarter, 30-37. In the third period Baskonia seemed to try to be back in the game, but in the final quarter, Murcia pulled away to 61-82 with less than three minutes to end the game and sealed the deal.
