Real Madrid reels in 12-year NBA veteran Alex Len

Real Madrid has announced the signing of Alex Len, who has put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Len (2.13 meters, 32 years old) has spent the last 12 seasons playing in the NBA, suiting up for the Phoenix Suns (2013-18), Atlanta Hawks (2018-20), Sacramento Kings (2019-20; 2021-25), Toronto Raptors (2020-21), Washington Wizards (2020-21), and the Los Angeles Lakers (2024-25).
Following the departure of Bruno Fernando, the Ukrainian big man has arrived in Madrid to compete with starting center Walter Tavares at the 5 position.
Len started his professional career in Ukraine in 2010-11 by playing for Dnipro, before heading to the United States to represent the University of Maryland. After starring at Maryland, he was selected by the Suns with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.
In 690 career regular-season games in the NBA, Len has averaged 6.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per night. He also made 14 appearances in the NBA Playoffs, posting averages of 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds.
At Real Madrid, Len will reunite with Trey Lyles, who he played alongside 97 times during their time together with the Kings.
In the NBA, he also played with Dubai Basketball’s Davis Bertans (48 games) and Justin Anderson (43 games), Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens’s Richaun Holmes (39 games), Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade trio Bruno Fernando (36 games), Isaac Bonga (35 games) and Jabari Parker (35 games), plus AS Monaco’s Mike James (27 games) and Olympiacos Piraeus duo Tyler Dorsey (26 games) and Sasha Vezenkov (22 games), among others.
