Two teams coming from early-week losses will fight for one double-round victory when Olympiacos Piraeus (6-3) hosts ALBA Berlin (3-6) in Round 10 on Thursday. Despite leading by double digits in the second half, the Reds fell 90-84 at Maccabi on Tuesday as Giannoulis Larentzakis and Sasha Vezenkov combined for 38 points. After having won its three opening games, ALBA is on a six-game loss after dropping a Round 9 home game to Crvena Zvezda, 84-88. Jaleen Smith's 22 points and 8 rebounds were not enough to break the spell for his team. This will be the 11th time that these two teams meet in the EuroLeague since 2000, with Olympiacos currently dominating the series 8-2, even if ALBA won their last meeting earlier this year.
Reds aim to bounce back against sliding ALBA

Despite Tuesday's loss, Olympiacos still holds a share of second place in the standings thanks to an otherwise solid season with Vezenkov as a clear leader on the court. Olympiacos leads the league in average PIR (105.1) and free throw rate (85.0%) and sits among the top three teams in points (85.2), steals (8.6) and two-point percentage (58.2%). The Reds will have to be ready for the unique ALBA style of ball movement that allows any player with an opening to shoot, with league-leading assist-maker Luke Sikma, a power forward, requiring special attention. With alertness on defense, Olympiacos could get back to the winning track, but ALBA is averaging a league-high 22.6 assists. The Reds might to better putting ALBA on the line, where it makes a league-low 67.9% of its free throws.

ALBA arrives to Piraeus with serious problems. The team has lost six in a row and is in desperate need of a victory that kick-starts its engines once again. Despite averaging a PIR of 94.0, the team is struggling to convert that into wins. Granted, ALBA has lost three games by 4 points or less, but turning the tide against Olympiacos seems like a tall order right now. ALBA's impressive presence in the paint adds up to 4.0 blocks per game and a league-high 37.6 rebounds per game. Small details are what will take ALBA on the winning path again, but it will have to focus on limiting Sasha Vezenkov, but also the group he has behind him, which works as a unit.
