In the victory, Milan held an opponent below 70 points for the first time since Round 7.
Team play, defense, fueled Milan past ASVEL

EA7 Emporio Armani Milan protected its home floor for the first time in more than a month as LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne was not a match for the Ettore Messina squad on Wednesday night.
In an 84-61 win, Milan finished with 27 assists and 14 steals, both marks a season-high. Also, Milan held the visitors to just 8-of-26 (30.8%) on two-point shooting.
"It was a must-win game, and I think we did a pretty good job", said Nicolo Melli, the game's top scorer with 17 points. His 6 straight to open the third quarter gave Milan the start it needed after halftime to open a 16-point margin.
Milan's lead was never fewer than 13 points after that.

"It is a great team win, top to bottom," Shavon Shields commented after scoring 13 points.
He and his teammates allowed 21 points in the first quarter, then a total of 40 the rest of the way.
"Even when we got a big lead we continued to play, share the ball and play defense," a happy Coach Messina said of his team's performance.
Such is a welcome change for Milan, which entered the game allowing 79.1 points per game. This was the first time Milan kept opponents below 70 points since Round 7, and it was the team's first win at home since November 16 when it beat Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
The defensive effort came five days after Milan upset FC Barcelona on the road and, with its second consecutive win, Milan improved to 6-9.
"We dug ourselves a little bit of a hole in regards to the of playoffs", Shields said. "We need to keep progressing, building off of this."
Next up for Milan, which welcomed Billy Baron's season debut but is still without Maodo Lo and Nikola Mirotic, is a home tilt with Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens on Friday.
