U18 BAXI Manresa recorded a 61-75 victory over U18 Emporio Armani Milan in the fifth place game at the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague Ulm qualifier on Sunday. Manresa finishes the event with a 2-2 record and Milan bows out at 1-3.
Lucas Sanchez led the winners with 16 points and Bruno Jekabsons, Guillem Ecker, and Alex Muncunill netted 14 points each. Seydou Dolo also stood out with 11 rebounds. Farid Compaore was Milan’s top scorer with 12 points and Luca Bandirali added 10 in defeat.
After the teams traded baskets early, Muncunill scored half the points in a 0-10 Manresa run that gave his team the lead for good at 11-19. It was 13-24 after 10 minutes and 27-37 at halftime. Manresa scored the first 7 points of the second half, but Milan made a third-quarter push behind Leonardo Nicolodi to get within 43-48. The difference was 11 at the end of the third quarter and Milan closed it t0 7 early in the fourth, but could not get any closer as threes by Ecker and Shalev Lederman – the latter a four-point play – finished the game off.
