U18 Mega overcomes U18 ASVEL, clinches Group B



U18 Mega Super Belgrade remained perfect at the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague Ulm qualifier and reached the first-place game by defeating LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 92-82 on Saturday evening in Group B.
Mega finished the group stage with a 3-0 record, and will play against U18 Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana on Sunday for the right to earn a place at the NextGen Final in Athens in late May. Meanwhile, ASVEL suffered its first loss, dropping to 2-1 record, and will face U18 ratiopharm Ulm in Sunday’s third-place contest.
ASVEL briefly went in front early in the third quarter, but it was all Mega after that, pulling away to a 10-point margin before the end of the third quarter, then scoring the first 17 points of the fourth to open a 76-59 margin and never looked back.
Nikola Karalic paced Mega with 21 points, Vuk Danilovic had 15 points while Peta Bjelica collected 11 points and 9 rebounds in a victory. Stanley Risal paced all ASVEL scorers with 15 points, Yohan Bassoumba collected 14 points and 11 rebounda, while Appolinaire Loussavouvou had 14 points, 8 assists and 4rebounds in a loss.
