U18 ratiopharm ulm places third after beating U18 ASVEL



U18 ratiopharm ulm captured third place at the Adidas NextGen EuroLeague Ulm qualifier on Sunday thanks to a 92-84 victory over U18 LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. Ulm finishes the event with just a single defeat while ASVEL departs with a second straight loss after winning its first two games in Germany.
Teo Milicic put together a masterpiece, flirting with a triple-double and finishing with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists and 3 steals to lead the winners. Yanu Slingerland poured in 20 points, Felix Kiehlneker tallied 18 points and 8 rebounds and Paul Plato posted 12 and 8 for Ulm. Appolinaire Loussavouvou led ASVEL with 19 points, 7 assists, 6 steals and 3 blocks and Stanley Risal scored 18 on 3-of-4 three-point shooting.
Plato scored 7 points as Ulm surged to a 13-5 start, but Yohan Bassoumba helped ASVEL roar back to lead 21-22 at the end of the first quarter. Loussavouvou pushed the visitors’ advantage to 27-33 before Ulm went on an 11-0 run – in which Slingerland and Milicic each scored twice – to cruise to 47-41 cushion at the break. ASVEL
unleashed a 0-9 run midway through third quarter to grab a 56-59 lead, though Kiehlneker handed Ulm a 63-61 advantage at the end of the quarter. ASVEL tied it early in the fourth and took a 72-73 lead on a triple by Risal. Ulm responded with back-to-back-to-back threes by Slingerland, Plato and Gustavs Brutans to take the lead for good.
